RIP to YOU SIR
by Moumita Bhattacharyya on Dec 31, 2013 02:20 PM

It feels such a pain to know that this great actor is no more with us to give us that hero who is not a macho man but an intelligent, sober and humerus person whom atleast few of us would always be attracted to! RIP SIR...

wonder what is so great
by Sameer Bhagwat on Dec 30, 2013 09:56 PM  | Hide replies

seems to have acted in typical "Breaking India" type stories.

His ROP pedigree granted him automatic access to rarefied circles in India which is in reality a Dhmmi state.

In this world of ours, where modesty is hardly seen as a virtue... Farooque Sheikh... inspired innocence, emanating from a true soul!

JIM HENDRIX SAID-LIVE LIFE, DIE YOUNG, HAVE A BEAUTIFUL CORPSE!
by Kabeer on Dec 30, 2013 01:55 PM

Not so good things first; when he and I were young I never thought he was either good looking or matinee material or even worth giving a look at him for his physical appearance.

Later after a couple of decades, when we met he was looking very very elegant, if not royalty as put by Aseem.

Did his face change, or did his physique change or did my perception chage?

No, none of them have changed, in fact, like all living beings he only grew older.

What made him look so attractive and elegant was his inner beauty and convictions that radiated on his face and body.

I had never seen anyone wearing a Lakhnowi chikan kurta and pajamas with such conviction and with such elegance.

Lakhnawi chikan kurtas and pajamas always are very fine and a lot of labour go into them.

Farooque with his apple radiant face looked really elegant and in fact sorted out a big problem for me regarding my sartorial issues.

In a climate like that of Sub-continent people are blessed that they don't have to weigh themselves with heavy clothing, yet many do - a hangover from the colonial rule and trying to impress the Americans and the locals saying loudly that they are CIVILISED.

It takes immense courage to wear a Lakhnowi white Chikan Kurta even in New York and any where and yet look the most elegant.

It is a very fine artistic work on a very fine material which is pure snowwhite.

Farooque guided me to wear these Lakhnowi whites and I am at peace with myself as it matches my inner self too.

I have never seen anyone as simple and natural actor in Hindi cinema. This can not be filled by anyone.Though he never did any he-man type roles, had the ability to hold the viewers. He could be called a master of light-comic roles.
