Very Sad
by Sujoy Chatterjee on Dec 28, 2013 11:37 AM

I am really shocked to know that Farooque Shaikh is no more. He was a versatile actor with a sense of humour. He was very simple, frugal, very close to common unlike so- called celebrities.

A wonderful actor. Loved his sensible movies. His character is Katha remains etched in my heart. Chashme Baddur is unforgettable. His pairing with Deepti Naval was great and they gave some wonderful films together. I can go on and on about him.

Heartfelt condolences to his family.

I am deeply grieved.

A secularist in the real sense of the word Farooq Shaikh is no more. He also worked in 'Garm Hawa' which won the national award. The director was M.Sathew. I was fortunate to meet at Mahuva (Gujarat) before two years as Morari Bapu had invited him as a guest speaker in 'Sadbhavana Forum'. We shall miss this great actor who was also horse lover. Why do you say he is a secularist in the real sense...just because he criticized Modi. Common give us a break.

Aleem my question to Mistry is not for disrespect to Farookh. I just wanted to know the double standards on who is called a secularist and who is not...
