Girls should be trained in Marital Arts
by Sunit Kumar on Sep 03, 2013 08:14 PM  | Hide replies

1. Every school should teach martial arts to girl students as mandatory.
2. girls should be encouraged to wear a defensive form of weapon to the likes of kirpan but with training in usage or carry chilli powder etc, they should be equiped with that.
3. Finally the government should use media and cinemas to advertise that RAPEs will dealt with sever punishment to create social awareness.
4. Beat police should increase their presence where previous incidents have occured and should keep regular contacts with known offenders or make a list of holligans in particular area, these same hooligans unfortunately are used by political parties so the police may have limited success here but its worth a try.
5. Finally there should be a single button press electronic device which should be connected to police controls which will spark alarm with location co-ordiante when a girl in in danger, so Police can come to her help. In order to reduce the load on police certain local shops or local citizen be also given access to the alarms so local citizens can raise help.
6. Similarly if point 5 is difficult to implement, an electronic device which can make loudest possible noise me made avaialable and should be small enough to be protable.

There are many ways to solve the current problems girls are facing, if GOI is incapable NGOs should fund/ implement or come up with easier solutions and implement the same.

What we must do?
by Darryl Fernandes on Aug 27, 2013 03:05 PM  | Hide replies

If you are getting raped or going to be ragged or killed. Do justice for the law. Take the law in your hands. So in case the victim is going to be you of no fault of yours you can take the position of offence as defence for safety. Soemtimes the offender the rapist can die, in that specific moment you need to surrender to the law and make necessary confesion on why you repsorted to defend but dont give statements that I knew I would be able to kill the rapist. Instead say that I did not expect he would die soemthing that puts you to ignorance in defencive position. After the court will make you the offender once the rapist is dead or attacked. Then you get bailed out based on the statement you made. SO you are safe by becomeing offender not the defender. Then you can reapply the same case by a lwayer to reinstate that you was inncoent and come clean again as a promising citizen.

As men it's easier for us to say that and than the retaliation by a person (woman) being attacked by 5-6 men. One is the outnumbering and two, the reality is that men have more physical strength than a woman. This is nature and a woman is made more delicate and beautiful as compared to a man. But men instead of treating a beautiful creation with respect and care, are using brute force. Very shameful indeed. The thinking has to change at the root level i.e. family. Many families still think that men are superior to women. There starts the problem. The thinking has to change at the basic family / home level, then things will fall in place. Another point is the way men, even from so called decent families, make derogatory comments when a lady is dressed in a modern way. It's a very cheap activity and should be avoided. Common today's woman is equally educated, if not more, equally capable of earning in her profession, if not more. So accept her right to dress and carry herself. Unless men and conservative women have tolerance towards the modern woman, things like rape will happen and will be justified.

I agree with you on all the other comments, but have to disagree with you on the point of 'modern clothes'.

You cannot wear any dress you like out of a sense of fashion.

Good clothes give a dignified and ladylike appearance to a woman, and this greatly reduces her chances of being harmed.

Other clothes which are provocative and revealing, will only increase her chances of being molested. This is a universal truth anywhere.

Worse, you are also unfortunately setting a bad example to other younger and impressionable women in the process.

However I must say the same applies to men.
They too must dress in a decent, dignified and gentlemanly way and not in revealing or tight clothes.

Clothes affect our mindset to a certain extent, and hence wearing proper clothes will help us have a disciplined mindset in the process, and not a pleasure-seeking, sensation-mongering materialistic mindset that eventually results in pain and misery, and lack of peace and happiness.

Looks for the data ...most of the rapes are committed by the persons the victims know.

The victim must punish the offender! Not the Nation!
by Darryl Fernandes on Aug 27, 2013 02:57 PM

What happens is that the court is blind. Let say if someone commits rape the court cannot charge criminal charges against the offender
becuase the offender becomes minority in defense immejeiately and the VIctim becomes majority in favour. The law is for the minority not

majority. Now you might argue why? If you read the highest rule in judicial history. Its the minority rules the world not majority. There are reasons for that like one reason is that we know that rape is wrong but the law does not look at it in that way. Like india - pak relations is based on minority report not majority. Now i am talking of major and minority not truth or lies. hope you get it. like pak does all the s... to indian soldiers including the terrosirm in india refcltly. but the offender atumatically becomes minority in defense so the charges on him wont be effective. So the law that is blind takes the defensive position of he offender to balance the theory of justice that is why you see the law statue how it stands with a blancing scale. So what must we do? WE must change the law in favour of the victim not the offender by passing a bill based on truth, evidence, public signature, general acceptance in soceity, appropraite judgment which is not based on public openion but based on truth. That is still debatable becuase we live in a system itself. Like someone wathcing blue film is equally responsible for rape! again u might not accpet this! But its reality cahange the system.

One of the most abused statement by Indian media. In last week only there have been more heinous crimes (including rp and mrdr) in India. But only because this incident happened in Mumbai and a journalist was victim, it is being reported like anything and people with free time or money are coming out to parade. Shame on the Indian media and these people.

Capital punishment should be there for rpsts but only after proper investigation. Other wise such law will only add to the misery of Indian men in a modern and law educated society where modern Indian women use such laws for extortion.
