Sri definitely must rank as an all time great in Indian cinema. But then there would be no competition, no one else has spanned the three major industries- hindi, Telugu and Tamil, crossed over from commercial to art and back with such ease. Her body of work is unparalleled both as an actress and as a dancer and masala histrionics. Usually our heroines are either beautiful dolls or great dancers or else actresses. Sri was everything. If she can make a movie like E-V after many generations of actresses, that speaks to her true greatness.
i always ridiculed my aunts as they are not fluent in english, being from banaras we at home always preferred hindi. the day i saw english vinglish i cried n cried continuously, i felt how badly i treated my aunts since my childhood. i couldn't muster courage to apologies to them, I called one of my relative n shared my feelings and she passed them to my aunts later. The full mark goes to Sri Devi whose acting was no natural that I felt my guilt. Thanks Sri Devi mam for correcting me.
I do not know how to put her Excellency in words.. She is way ahead of all the actresses so far in Indian cinema. She was like dream, nobody came even closer to what she did with such perfection.
A perfectly made list with one scene missing. Any scene from 'Judaai' starring Sri Devi as a middle class woman is memorable and must have been included here.
