Music of 'teesri manzil'
by Jay Subramanyam on Apr 18, 2013 03:14 PM

There we go again. Whenever people refer to Shammi today, all that they have to talk about is 'Teesri Manzil' and it songs. No doubt, Pancham did a fine job with the music but the fact is that during the film's first run in '66-'67, the songs barely clicked, except for 'O mere sona re..' which was a Binaca Geetmala topper for a couple of weeks. Over the years, the songs have become cult hits primarily through repeated telecasts on various channels.

can we imagine a review better than one written by sukanya verma
by satya raut on Apr 15, 2013 09:02 AM

Yes , apparently we can and we will . Whats wrong rediff? have your other writers and reviewers gone on strike, or is your hr sleeping ? that you have to hire such inane and iodiotic reviewers ?
A rip off is a rip off is a rip off , never has a hindi movie made a thriller as engrossing or enthralling as Hitchcock . Yes, people might disagree with me , but given the sort of genre that he created ....others can merely follow and be inspired by the great man !!! ( punintented)

All Kapoor brothers were buffoons who only got to keep their jobs because they monopolized the industry!

They are a bloat on the 100 year history of Indian cinema!

The will happen to Sharukh khan, Salman Khan and others who are doing the same crass today and will be called nostalgia after 15 years. Hope you will be here to enjoy that too.

There is a world of difference that a producer like Nasir Hussain, a director like Vijay Anand and a music director like Rahul Dev Burman bring to a film, read the article, it is about the film and all the people associated with it, 15 years from now no one will talk about these films , and here we are still talking about Teesri Manzil 50 years after it's release. So no fear of this crass being called nostalgia even after 15 years- take a look at Himmatwala- the original was a smash hit and it still sucks 30 years later and even the remake sucks, these films are in the same category, Teesri Manzil is worth watching any day over any of these above mentioned films, the good films of today are not the top star stuff ( apart from 3 Idiots) but the ones like Jolly LLB, Vicky Donor, Delhi Belly, - which have stories, beleivable characters and do not require suspension of belief to watch.

"It's been 47 years since Teesri Manzil came out and everybody knows who the killer is. But it doesn't matter any longer. What does is how impeccably it all unfolds. Every. Single. Time."

I have lost count as to how many times I have seen the movie. Surely more than 50 times.
