Boss. He strugled hard in the industry with flops initially, but went to give many hits. Once he was favourite for Prakash Mehra and all those directors who were remaking Telugu movies into Hindi. What he said was true, except that his bosts about himself much. That is OK.
The Golden aage of music of 60 and 70 ended with arrival of Bhappi Lahiri of 80's. His phase is the most dread full music ever. he should be banned for life.
Never imagined that a man calling himself a music composer, music director etc.etc.could be absolutely zero in music, be it singing or playing some instrument. A greater counterfeit and sham musicman one can never see. His love for showing off jewellery (presumed to be of gold) betrays his shallow tastes and lack of any noble values. Most of hi songs eg "bambai nagariya" etc. do not cross more than 4 basic notes on the harmonium and a cheap, street rhythm. He just cannot sing! Of course, the other quite successful music director, Rahman, also cannot and should not sing at all. But, the film music industry has been nearly totally shattered after great names we had 3- 40 years ago.

And quite honestly, his total persona does not convince anyone that he could ever be a music man.

Arre, Cutlet! What you wants? Bhappi must wear only the silvers? Arre Babu Moshai, phorget what he wearings! Plays his records on yours gramophones! Then sits backs and relacks! Dude, enjoy life ; never grumble!
we too dont mind anyone making fun of you. It only means that you are really funny. You should rather be happy about it. As you know there are some such people who are funny but still people are scared to make fun of them
When I was young & naive, I used to dislike Bappi for everything unorthodox. Now at 35, I appreciate him for everything unorthodox and for having the courage to sticking to it.
He has definitely stirred the bollywood music pot, right from bottom considering traditional 67s-70s era.
Keeping copy/original argument aside, he truly made a lasting impact and is definitely not a "one hit wonder".
I will definitely have his songs from 80s on my iPod alongwith A.R. Rahman, Timberlake & Coldplay.
It's matter of personal choice, so excuse if I say go to hell...
