I used to stop seeing malayalam movies for a while in early 2000s. But by seeing the list of recent films I can't hold me back from watching malayalam films. The realistic and directorial brilliance auras are back in malayalam. I can now say mollywood produces the best films now....Some films which encouraged me to comment so are Ee Adutha Kalalathu, 22FK, Diamond Necklace, Ordinary, Ozhimuri, Molly Aunty Rocks, Grand master, spirit, chaapa kurishu, salt and pepper....

VK Prakash has reinvented himself as a serious good filmaker after making shoestring budget silly comedies like Gulumaal and Three Kings.Reports say that Trivandrum Lodge is even better than Beautiful.. way to go VKP.
All in all this has been an exceptionally good year for Malayalam cinema this year.. all thanks to some great works by newcomers as well as not so new ones, Ee Adutha Kalalathu, 22FK, Diamond Necklace, Ordinary, Ozhimuri, Molly Aunty Rocks were all good movies, Mohanlal tried stepping into the right direction with movies like Grandmaster and Spirit where he played his age. Maybe Mamooty should learn from him

Malayalam Films

Malayali's have a strange tendency to produce and consume films of the highest and lowest art in different genres with equal relish. Of late, films with multiple narratives and intersecting life stories have become the norm, barring a few other linear stories.
It is also good for the industry that an intellectual artfilm festival goer and a college student can at once enjoy these movies.

Agree 100%. Goood observation. Look at the hits this year: Ee Adutha Kaalathu, Ordinary, Usthad Hotel, 22 FK, Diamond Necklace, Trivandrum Lodge, Ozhimuri, Molly Aunty all good films and successful too. But the Megablockbusters are Mayamohini, Mr, Marumakan (totally crass Dileep Comedies) and Run Babby Run usual masala from Mohanlal after some sensible roles in Spirit and GM (both average in collections)
