Anurag Basu and Pritam - both are Copy Cats par excellence !
by Cedric Vaz on Sep 26, 2012 09:05 AM

The way Ranbir Kapoor doffs his cap so many times reminds one of Stan Laurel (of Laurel and Hardy movies fame) and of Charlie Chaplin's movies. Also his (Ranbir's) hand and face gestures are the very same what Laurel and Chaplin did and danced decades ago. This blatant copying does not deserve accolades from critics, public, press - as the Director and Script Writer of any movie must always find something new and original (unless it's a biopic) if they want their film to be cherished and remembered always.
Anurag Basu and Pritam (music too inspired by the 2001 French movie "Amelie") are you listening? DON'T COPY AND TAKE CREDIT FOR WHAT ARE NOT "YOUR" IDEAS.
The mannerisms by Ranbir and some other actors in the movie "Barfi" may be new to them as they are young, so they can fool today's youngsters but they can't fool the senior citizens and older generation still living today who have seen Chaplin and Laurel/Hardy in their younger days!

yesterday i saw the movie. performance of all were quite impressive. story telling was good. script is also good. actually there is nothing new in the story. it is how intelligently the script is written by anurag. he played it very tricky. actually he is fooling the viewer because he never gave a chance for viewer to think about the story line even though the story thread same old story. he took an old story and put the lead people as disabled. then included some treatment in story telling that makes viewer not to think whether its old story. some people will not like slow narration like most of the korean movies. anurag did it korean movie style. other than the story line all were good. basu played it in a very tricky way. Eventhough the movie is good but not classic . we can say brilliant in parts not as some people commenting over here. an normal viewer may feel its brilliant bcos they might not watched any kind of high dramas like iranian or korean movies

Its copied from a Japanese movie, replaced a young boy with a girl which is the usual bollywood formula.

AUTISTIC CHARACTER PORTRAYAL IN MOVIES
by iram jalil on Sep 20, 2012 09:35 AM  | Hide replies

autistic people do not least do or beleive many things which priyanka portrayed, she was portraying autism in THEORY
autistic people are in real life like the character portrayed by SRK,
it might look a very subtle or no difference to many ,but on the platform of an autistic portrayal,it is HUGE
i still beleive in the world of acting SRK and PC have still avery long way to share the same platform, her better bet is doing role of a glamarous character.

I would see Barfi tomorrow so cannot comment on Priyanka, but SRK was far far away from being able to perform Autistic.

Autistic people lack social skills, they lack emotions, so SRK's effort to go to meet Obama would not have been done by someone who is autistic. Also he would not have gone back to help that lady. SRK at best looked like a caricature! The best performance was Dustin Hoffman...
