"Subroto Ray", While a national holiday is too far fetced, there is certainly no need to put down Amitabh's achievements. Just because hedoes not believe in publicizing all his contributions to the society and country, does not mean he has not. Also, being rich via legitimate means and talent is NOT a crime. Yes, we should celebrate Martyr's day and should NOT declare a national holiday for Amitabh's birthday but NOT for the reasons you state and there is no need to be negative about Amitabh's achievement to make your point. It makes you sound childish and immature.

Thank you for your sensible reply. I do have my point as you have yours. I get crazy when I see someone who is as fallible as any other human being being hyped and raised to a larger than life pedestal. Doesn't make any sense at all to me. Mind you he is not the only achiever neither the richest. So let's leave it at that.......

u r missing the point Mr. Roy, what BP is saying is the legitimate and rightfull means. he has not said that he is the richest or the greatest ever. what is un said is the sway he could hold on millions for this long. barring few mis calculations and minor abberations he has been clean all the time. do not forget that he even had to sleep on the marine drive for a night. such was and is thae struggle in the most unpredictable, and tough industry. I am not a great fan of his but I admire a few like Amitabh that includes Rjinikanth, Tendulkar to name a few.

Do you know couple of month back he donated 30 lakhs to maharastrian farmers ? Please let me know what you or uor moron father has done for this country . AB was the face of UNICEF . He worked free of cost for Polio eradication.

Mr Ray, every one is doing for the country. they are doing legitimate business just as Amitabh has done. by ur logic no Military person has done any thing for the country since they take a salary !!! do not forget that India at a time during the 70-80 when unemployment , frustration, anger and hoplessness was at its peak , the cinemas had cooled off the public off. Amit had connected with the crouds in a way not many stars had done in the bollywood
