Sri............brought freshness to the roles she played...........Tamil and seen her early and her B/W movies are so good to see.............Bollywood got her like flamboyant and at times 'loud' character..........sometimes 'tomboy' ..........Tamil got the best out of her.......after so many years in the recent Hindi Movie and on Kuan Banage Krorpati..........she is that all South Charm..............she continues to be the 'Expressive Actor'
Sridevi's top class performances were in Tamil films -especially when Kamal, Rajni as co-stars or K. Balachander or Bharatiraja as Directors were involved. Her best in Hindi were in Chandni, Lamhe and Mr India. She did a great role in a Malayalam film (co staer Arvind Swamy) when she was brought back after so-called retirement from Hindi films. Her latest in Hindi -simply outstanding.
It is unfortunate the rediff continues to assume Bollywood and Indian cinema are synonyms. Some of the best movies of Sri Devi and the roles she has played have not been mentioned. It is funny that the hindi version is listed but the original Moondram pirai is not. A partial description of the real evolution that is Sri Devi
kollywood film lovers as well as sridevi can't forget she may be settled in mumbai her heart will in kollywood only, her romance films with kamalhassan superstar rajini sir my favorite list of her is very big....in tamiland other language movies used her only for glamour

SHRIDEVI is real talent even if she is given secondary role in amitabh movie inqueelab her anger to corrupt husband and father won the appriciation of all of us?
Sridevi before all the hindi movies can be best remembered in her performance from Jhonny,Meendum Kokila,Varumaiyin Niram Sivappu, and Moondram Pirai....these were the Tamil films in which she proved she was a great actress and the roles in these films were not the glamour kind which she used to do...especially in Meendum Kokila as the innocent bhramin wife of Kamal she literally lived that role..in fact English Vinglish is the kind of performance she used to do in Tamil in the 80s
Devata (Tohfa in Hindi)which was made by K Ragahvendra Rao. Also she got her nosejob done around this time so that she becomes more palatable fo her hindi audience. She did of course act in Julie and other movies before this. Redif should have done a thorough portrayal about her changeing faces.
Re: The transiiton to hindi came from her Telugu film

The other telugu movie which was remade by the same director around this time was Himmatwala which was also a remake of a telugu movie starring sridevi.
Look at the poor quality and selection of photographs put up by rediff editors! They look like 3rd generation poor video grabs. For a star whose thousands of pictures have been published over the last 3 decades, these poorly selected photographs are an insult.
Also, the focus seems to be only on her Hindi films. She has been the reigning queen of Tamil cinema as well as Telugu cinema, right through the late 70s to late 80s, performing a great balancing act with her career in Hindi cinema which started in the early 80s, until her retirement in the mid-90's.
If you guys can't do a thorough research and spend some time doing justice for her career, and to the article, why bother publishing it?
