I am not a big fan of Sridevi but still EV is a must watch. At least this one is not the usual Bollywood types. It's a light hearted movie with a lovely message. The performances are very good Atleast this time i liked Sri 's Performance.. Believe me (all sri haters) she has'nt acted like a chaalbaaz or a Chandni ) in this one . It's a matured performance . Very well directed Movie... WE need more movies like this..
English Vinglish is fabulously crafted movie with attention to details. Simple yet effective. Superiorly acted movie by Sridevi and well supported by rest. Music, Lyrics A grade.
I loved the movie. But the acting of Sridevi was not good. She still has that childish tone which she used to depict in all her films. She never looked a matured actor in her previous films as well because of her childish tone. Also in this film she has the south indian accent being a Maharashtrian lady. Any other character film actresses would have carried her role better than Sridevi. I mean National award winning actresses like Konkana, Nandita Das etc.
We do not want these 'experts' to judge the popularity of a movie. They seem to act smart, show their brain power. Any way for us, the common crowd, the movie is a super hit. Must Watch with family and enjoy!!
a beautiful movie,must watch.a common person can connet so well.and of course Sridevi is an excellent actor.i think she beats the hemas,madhuris and the the kareenas hollow.what a come back.i hope she does more movies.superb acting as always.
Hopefully, her comeback will inspire many more filmmakers to clean up their act, pull up their socks and make good films again. The last time such a craze happened was for Hema Malini's return with Baghban but this one FAR FAR EXCEEDS that. Even after 15 years Sridevi commands enough clout to carry a movie on her shoulders single handedly. Every scene with her in it is a lesson in acting techniques, observation, living the character and going above and beyond the demand of the movie and the director. Let her teach the rest of the Bollywood now how it's done! ALL HAIL THE RETURN OF THE QUEEN!

very truly said. She was the only heroine daring to say NO to work with Amitabh because then the focus would shift to him & she would have nothing much to do. ROLES WERE WRITTEN ONLY FOR HER. Hopefully this trend will come back. One Mr.Ketan Parab has posted that she does not look mature with her childish voice, whereas the fact is this is deliberate on her part to display the insecurity of her character. She was so much into the role that recently in KBC also she didn't open up. To see her roles exactly opposite please see her Laadla & Judaai where she played the grey shades. For her bubbly character one should see Ghar Sansar & Aulaad and of course apart from Himmatwala, Jaani Dost, Mawaali, Sarfarosh, Tohfa.. The list goes on.
