With all due respect to these 2 great actors , it was Dilip Kumar who suggested Amitabh's name to Salim Javed , who suggested him to Prakash Mehra , Salim Javed always dictated their cast , before selling the script

Sir have seen this movie. Dilip Sir ka acting Bindaas tha. Amitabh just faded from the screen. Dilip Saheb is Legend. He is an actor of his class.

Both were great. But if I was to pick one over the other it was clearly Amitabh. His performance as the neglected son was par excellence. One has to acknowledge though that the comparison is not fair as Dilip Saheb was in his last few years as an actor and Amitabh was in his prime.

comparisons are always there when we talk about great actors. But it also depends on the person who is comparing is of which generation. My kids dont like Amitabhji they are fan of current generation actors. And I remember my dad always praising Dilip sahab for all his roles in different films. I have seen most of the films of both the actors and I have always found it difficult to select one among them. Yes if one want to compare you can compare their films like Bairaag and Desh premi where both are playing multiple roles. and so on for other films.

Amitabh is a bollywoodish stage shows type actor. Big expression, fake nd loud dialoges delivery so people in the back seats can understand the proceedings. Dilip kumar is natural and fit for hollywood movies. no wonder he was offered a main lead in hollywood movies which he refused.
