The biggest reason why Mary Kom is such a legend, is because she's from N-E region. The most neglected part of India without even basic infrastructure. To cast a non N-E actress would belittle her struggles and undo lot of good work she has done to bring Manipur into spotlight. I hope Bhansali doesn't make such a basic mistake.
