I seen this film recently and I did't find it funny or the story to be interesting. I don't know why all these years my friends forced me to watch it. May be it was a good film for the past era .

Arjun : How good is your Hindi? No offence here, but I feel your hindi should be good enough to understand of the dark humor of this movie.. Sub-titles won't help.

the movie was filmed abt corruption in system with humour filled in a way that of jaspal bhatti type satirist melodrama.
I sometimes wonder why people go overboard in aligning with the popular/critical opinion about a movie. I have watched Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron couple of times, I have found it honestly boring and average at best. Wondered what is so good about it. It is definitely not a classic as it is paraded by all and sundry. People do not apply their minds just go with so called flow especially the reviewers and afraid to pull down the so called classics. This is a subjective matter. What is beautiful to you may not be beautiful to someone. We may be a majority bashing, minority appeasing community but when it comes to anything else, majority's views hold. In this case, the majority view is the movie is good.

Rajesh was the chimpanzee in the super comedy flick Housefull where chimpanzee f*a*r*t*s. He found the scene very funny - that is the kind of comedy he enjoys.

one can hv different opinion on what classic means, for some,its tragic movie, for some, its action, for some its comedy, etc. jane bhi do yaro was fantastic movie with comic scenes with sever attack on indian mentality, system of corruption, well supported by best actors (not Stars) of yesteryears.

Yeah, I totally agree with you. It was a decent movie with a few hilarious scenes. I would not call it a classic. I think people think its a classic because of nostalgia and also because the current generation would have watched the movie when they were in childhood or teens when you are more impressionable. If this movie was so great how come it was a flop in the box office? Same is the case with Agneepath which people think is great but fact is it was a flop at box-office at that time. So, poeple who are giving us gaali for our opinion remember an entire generation of people in that time felt the same way as us !
This is why a review is only a personal opinion. To be honest, apart from the mahabharata scene, there is nothing I carry back and found it highly overrated as a comedy. I watched it 2-3 times to ensure I didnt miss anything. Its strictly a 1 time watch. So Sukanya sorry your 5 star isn't great. Like most rediff reviewers just showing off your movie knowledge by quoting some references instead of focussing on movie, doesn't make you a 5 star reviewer either. Pls grow up rediff reviewers, you need to get out of the well that you leave in and improve.
hilarious movie which tickles the funny bone and can watch over and over such movies are hard to come in future and great chemistry between all the veteran actors ...hats off to Kundan shah for making such a epic movie
