How do you determine that Gupi Gyne Bagha Byne is Gupi Bagha and not Hirak Rajar Deshe or even Gupi Bagha Phire Elo???

Hope you have not seen soumitra's films....how can say devdas is evergreen and feluda is average,,,you are suck a fool.I think you people should go & watch tees maar khan type of movies....The writer of this article is absolutely spot on with her list of films..may be she could have added Ashani sanket,Ghare Baire,sakha proshakha...
which is made on series by satyajit da.Actor was rabi ghosh and film name gupi gayen bagha bayin.Saumitra deserve this prestigious award.In his movie devdas where chunni babu acted by classic utttam kumar outstanding.These are our regional childhood heroes.
That was a very good piece of bumbled acting.. masterfully done by Soumitra. Also missing is Jhinder Bondi, the only film where any actor ever upstaged the legendary Uttam Kumar.

Jhinder Bondi I have already mentioned in my earlier reply to this topic. Many other movies that should have made the list (and this should have been a top 20 list considering the quantum and quality of work the actor has gifted us): 1.0> Abhijan 2.0> Khudito Pashan (I don't know why this Tapan Sinha classic did not make the cut) 3.0> Pratinidhi / Akash Kusmum (both by Mrinal Sen) 4.0> Noukadubi 5.0> Koni (plz don't get surprised.. it was a sports movie but the role he essayed was a challenging one...) So I don't think the writer was spot-on. I replied to your posting mainly because we converged on Jhinder Bondi, but the reply is actually aimed to the writer of the topic, who seems to be unusally biased towards artie sorts of movies.

No One ever upstaged Uttam Kumar madam! Soumitra's character in Jhinder Bondi was an author backing one....the finesse and the skill with which Uttam Kumar portrayed the two entirely different people, one an extrovert city guy and the other introvert and soft music loving reclusive king can only be done by the great doyen of Bengali cinema....Soumitra is great no doubt, but he could never ever match up to the skills of the quintessential "Guru"....without the 14 movies of the maestro Ray, Chaterjee wouldn't have been what he's today...please don't belittle the unsurpassed legend, just to glorify another great actor....

The actor who is a director's actor has more acting capabilities ... And any day Uttam Kumar was a huge megastar than soumitra who always was a director's actor.. thats wh Roy made all his films with Soumitra & and only Nayak with Uttamkumar..that says it all.. And also utam kumar as byomkesh was utterly disgusting in Chiriyakhana which later on roy admitted he should not have done..
