Small market
by Rythm on Jun 27, 2012 10:24 PM

Kannada cinema market is small, because of hindi cinema onslaught. Its a catch 22 dilemma. Lack of market, means quality talent moves to where money is. Lack of quality means market remains small

Quality directors in Kannada (I live not in Karnataka, so I dont know many) include Yograj Bhatt, S Narayan, Girish Kasarvalli, etc. But others are making run of the mill comedy induced, family dramas.

More such films are necessary in Kannada
by chingapunga on Jun 27, 2012 07:56 AM  | Hide replies

Kannada was once famous for producing quality films, now they produce films. They should stop copying/remaking other regional films for the commercial sake of it.

The standard is a relative word. Earlier, the kannada public was not exposed to other movies much. So the kannada movie standards appeared high. Dr.Rajkumar was enjoying this. But not the benefit is not available to the current generation, as people in Karnataka get to see what others are doing. And it appears on a relative mode Kannada movie standards have become low. The reality is...it is status quo.

Rajamouli, a noted Telugu director has recently given an interview in kannada channel TV9 about Ravichandran and his works and was mentioning that how he had been copying ravi' stills in his works. What some directors in KA industry were experimenting in the past have influenced others in neighbouring industries.Exposure to other movies is nothing but repetition of the same thing in their nativity.

you sound like an osama and not a obama. Every single movie of DARAKU was a master piece. The entire generation of present day Kannadigas have been inspired by the morals and simple idealistic values enacted by Dr.RajKumar onscreen. Where do you think the Kanndiga simplicty or hospitality comes from? Think before you throw a stone on a mirrir!

Can you pls tell me in which Film industry there is no remakes.Even ome Hollywood film makers also copy some stuff from koren and chinese movies.I am not supporting remakes but now a days this trend is more common. How Rowdy Rahore is breaking all the box office records in Hindi film industry; which is a remake from Telugu movie Vikramarkudu.
