Cinema means entertainment. Movies like Kahaani is doing well not becoz it's a sensible and path breaking but it also had an entertainment value. If you can sit thru the movie than it is good. People who present art movies with dose entertainment also gaining monies. Dibakar Banerjee, Anurag Kashyap and Vishal Bhardwaj are also giving hits so cinema is not dead but you are dumb.

Agreed..Im sure some great releases like Shanghai & Gangs of Wasseypur won't be as big hit as Rowdy Rathores :( [since Paan Singh tomar, kahaani, vicky donor has become reasonable Hits & appreciated by many..atleast i want both Shanghai & Wasseypur to fall on those categories..we should recognise and respect talents like Anurag Kashyap,Dibakar Banerjee,Vishal Bhardwaj,Shimit Amin]

its silly to compare such small budget films and their business with that of Ready and Bodyguard. The 3 Khan's and some other movie houses are granted a huge first three day opening because of their sheer marketing reach and brand. Films like Kahaani do not have this. and Vicky Donor just does not have it. also, whats the point of comparing Multiplex audience with single screen masses of UP and Bihar. Its not USA! while i personally detest particularly Salman movies and brand, lets face it. He has an audience for it!
Instead of remaking action movies like Deewar, Coolie, Zanzeer etc why Shetty touched upon this risky story ?. Abhishek does not have a background to be a good opening mascot. If it has to sail, it should be Ajay. Even the title song was toooo boring. The setting and dancers cost the producers a fortune it seems.
We are in country where actor gets Top Annual Acting Award for a film about Rockstar, and eat this ...he does that without actually singing a single word :D :D ..Mera Bharat Mahaan....

your confusing sentence formation shows that you are exactly the kind of people I was talking about...
The most difficult movies to make are those that make money, and Shetty does that quite well. The critics, Raja Sen prominent among them, cannot appreciate that, since they've never tried to do it - make a hit movie.
Every time Raja Sen and other critics criticise a movie that goes on to make big money, they show their bloated sense of self-importantness. How they have more evolved tastes than the vast majority of this country. The truth is, they are bad at their jobs. They just cannot get it - what people they write for really like.

You are right secret secret. Raja Sen don't care than a common man who is full of sorrow wants an escapist entertainment like Singham and Rowdy Rathore cinema is the only happiness for him. Raja Sen should retire and watch Naseerudin Shah's Pestenji.
