Making a children's film which can keep lts entertained is a rare feat. One person who successfully achieved this was Amole Gupte [ Images ] with his path-breaking film Stanley Ka Dabba.

I think you have taken the sentence out of context. The writer's point is about the fact that most of the kiddie movie directors want us to cry at the end of the movie and leave with a tinge/dollop of pessimism. In all the movies that you mentioned, you will move out of the theatre with a lump in your throat and think "Why should this happen to the kid?". Hence his comment, I guess.

except TZP and Thnxmaa, the films i hv mentioned bring a smile on ur face, ths why i wrote that the reviewer wud nt hv sen these movies :)
