My earliest memories of Indian cinema as kid, is the Chitrahaar which used to come in DD...and watching the same with all neigbours around a B&W TV. I still remember the frenzy in the room when songs like 'Mere Sapno Ki Rani' with RK in his Jeep with Cap on and Sharmila in the train, used it play. Even today when I see a road by the side while travelling on a train, the song gets refreshed in memory.
It was simply pure magic.

He reminds us of the innocent age of India, when things were much simpler and relationships were much stronger. It rekindles the good memories of ones life and that is the reason I think people connect so well to RK despite the many mnay years since 1970's.
Thank you RK for the wonderful memories and the movies you have given to Indian cinema. We will miss you.
RIP among the stars the Firs Superstar of India

The fan following and hysteria was really out of imagination. I was not born that time but stories heard from elders, articles written on him described his larger than life persona. Last 2 days I cried because in my city during his peak he visited for a single shoot and when people came to know they slept near the shooting spot for 2 days occupying to see khanna glimpse. People came with clothes, bed, brush and that public que stretched till 2 kms from the shooting scene. Even Rajnikanth fan following in madras is not even 10% to what people witnessed. Girls shouting and crying their heart out. This was beyond description and these young generation people cannot even imagine the sight. Once he got sick at a famous hospital in mumbai so producers book the entire 2 floor to see as their waiting period to meet him was a year. He was much bigger than hindu muslim or religion. his movies had clean message which was indian culture. Really you will be missed. Had dimple stayed with him, he wouldn't have died due to excessive drinking

The king of romance is no more"
by NIRAJ SRIVASTWA on Jul 19, 2012 07:22 PM

It is really very painful for me to hear that the king of romance, the first superstar of hindi cinema has left the world. He died due to family problem. Though before his entry in bollywood, many actors has already established their name in bollywood but nobody has created a charisma as rajesh khanna has created in the hindi film industry. He will be remembered forever for his fantastic roles in several blockbusters. We have really lost a true gem of the film industry.
