The making of a superstar

One big reason why Rajesh Khanna clicked was his background voice, Kishore Kumar. Kishoreda's ascendance coincided with that of Rajesh Khanna and both seemed to be made for each other!! The music directors also played their part and gave some of the most memorable songs of Bollywood for this pair. Rajesh Khanna, of course, fitted the romantic genres of these songs to a 'T". Such a combination will probably never again emerge on the screen of Hindi cinema. It is this combination of factors that makes Rajesh Khanna one of greatest romantic stars in the history of Hindi cinema. Never again can the magic of Kishore-da's voice and Rajesh Khanna romantic charm be created on the screen!!! Most of Kishore-da's greatest hits were sung for Rajesh Khanna and what else was it, other than destiny? Blessed indeed was this man to be paired with one of the greatest singers of Hindi cinema.

Aditya Misra
Rajesh Khanna
by Aditya Misra on Jul 18, 2014 03:39 PM

The main reason for the downfall of the actor was that he got too much public appreciation and ac claim more than he deserved. He was good as a star, he had a distinct style, the roles were tailor made for him, but he never was a very versatile actor. When he tried to be versatile, he failed. And when at the age of 50 he tried to be romantic with heroines half his age, people did not appreciate it. He rose too high, disproportionate to his talent and could not hold there, so he had a fall, the great fall. He could not accept his fall from the height and took to drinking, which also affected his personal life and doomed him.

Bollywood Have limited Best talents...over the Years!
by kallol paul on Jul 19, 2012 12:55 AM

This limited amount of genius in music, script, direction, singing etc...first captured by kakaji aka Rajaesh khanna and then invested upon on Amitabh Bachhan...now the Khan trio enjoys the little bit of talent left in Bollywood.

This is the reason why someone goes up and then goes down.

The base of Bollywood talent is not very wide to accommodate all.The reason again is that Hindi is not an International Language. Same story is applicable for the regional films too.

Yes,I too was his fan.But what amazes me why these so called stars start behaving funny after reaching heights of their life with lots of wealth, fame, love & adoration from public? Why can't they maintain same stable profile like RAHUL DRAVID who inspite of everything is cool & unassuming? He is no less than these so called super stars of film industry in the eyes of public. His simplicity makes him still greater.

OUR HERO NO MORE
by Ali sheikh on Jul 18, 2012 04:49 PM

This is shocking news for our Generation. From the last month was fighting with his health.
Todays generation may not quite appreciate the magicf Khanna. Those marvelous bunch of very good actors Dharmender,Shammikapoor and Feroz and Sanjay Khan.
Those were days of Aradhana Tan he never looked back 16 consequtive Hits.
Yet, The Rajesh khanan of the post Super Star days gave memorable films like CHAKRAVYUHA, ANURADHA,AND PALKON KI CHHAON MEH. My all time favouriteites continue to be Aradhana, Safar, and Anand. Whose grim reality I prefer to the near Ideal theme of Anand, Daag, even theu a part from commercial success Namak Haram, Aavishkar, and Aapki kasam I did not like them.
Perhaps he should not have accepted Telugu and Tamil producers Red Rose a negative role, Avatar a old man character typical family drama of entirely south style. I think it was begging to end of Rajesh Khanna karishma style first SUPER STAR of title holder of Indian Cinema. Later similar old man’s character roles on this way between Sanjeev kumar and him as character roles our real hero backed up playing those stereo type roles. As a matter of fact I hate commercial advertisements but I am sure if he havells commercial will create emotional connect with most of us. First time in my life a Blady commercial made me cry. A SINCER SALUTE TO RAJESH KHANNA.

Add to that director Shakti samanta who seemed to bring out the best from these three.
