Heroines had meaty roles earlier years. Now like in other Indian films, they are just appendages. Stories do not gel with true Kerala themes and just time pass.
Mallu films will thrive once again when they bring back down-to-earth Mallu stories with fresh faces! Mallu films can compete only on content and never on gimmicks!
They are doomed to flounder in irrelevance if they show 70 year old fat men masquerading as macho-men beating up 10 other well bodied men to pulp after which the scene shifts to a duet with a 17 year old chick with no acting skills what-so-ever!

in malayalam tv channels too they only sing tamil songs in singing competetions and lots of mallus call up tamil music channels asking for tamil songs mallu girls are good and plum just the way tamils like to watch in big screen and they come to tamil industry for opportunities

Been watching M Cinema since a kid and thats how I learnt the language better living out of Kerala. I used to pride on the content, story, script, settings and songs of M cinema. Vividly remember Vijayan and Dasan, the antics of Jagathy who made us roll on the floor with laughter. Jagatheesh's 'echuse me'. Srinivasan's comedy on himself... I cant stand any Malayalam cinema today, with a band of Tamil, Hindi and other 'un-fit' actors. The quintessential Malayali woman has disappeared. Change is good, however the changed version is a 'me-too' version of Tamil-Telugu flicks. Today I can't differentiate between Malayalam and non- malayalam flicks. For me Malayalam cinema was 3 M's- Mamooty- Mohanlal-Malayalam. They are also trying to cling on- delivering non-sense cinema. Cant they see that their time is almost ending. New generation Directors are extremely disappointing. There seems to be a mad chase to Churn out movies. Pelvic thrust and cleavage display seems so common... It is so not malayalam like. Non Malayalees used to watch M movies for their depth of script and writing as well as acting.. Not any more. They have lost it and its only money that matters to everyone now.
Sad to see the deterioration of malayalam cinema...

Muttal why u care about Tamizhs, just mind your business. Kollywwood produce lots of decent movies now a days. We don't need any of your people coming to chennai and talking ill of tamizh. You better stay in your Goddamned land.

u r absoluteely right sachin , cant stand these latest crop of film makers pathetic attempt to ape the tamils or northies in story and delivery , i am still a great fan of mohanlal but only in movies where the script is good and believable, why are nt they making movies like that , probably the argument is those ppl who watch good movies are staying back at home , its now movies for the college going pop corn popping pop gen, who zip in and out of theatre halls with girl friends and dont think twice in going out to attend to a cell-call while an important scene in on or worse take it in the theatre while not having the slightest remorse that they are disturbing everyone around

Malyalam movies normally copy of hollywood and iranian Movies and hereafter Malyalam Movies wont win National awards Bcoz past Mallu jury members were thrown-out due following Nepotism culture moreover last year Tamil film won 14 national awards in different category but not even single Tamil jury in the committee....
