Original Singing is inate

talent.. it should probably be in your genes.. Only those with the gift can shine as playback singers.. there has to be a need to improvise.,. a need for a gifted voice.. otherwise, any amount of training and practice just wont cut... unlike formal music.

What's the point of this? Mahendra Kapoor is an average singer with a handful of good songs. His proximity to Raj Kapoor is not going to change that. Didn't in the past so how can it now??

100 births you need to be one hundredth as good as mahender saab. Undefeated king of his genre, rules punjabi songs. Not to forget many many thousands of devotional songs and many gems for hindi, romantic patriotic and ghazals. Only Rafi Kishore and Mukesh have this status and no one else

the greatest singer ever in india is Rafi.. rest is all a pale shadow of the great guy. Look at the sheer variety and number of songs Rafi has sung.. there was virtually no other singer in 60s other than Rafi.. People burdended him with so many songs for so many different situations and actors, he died prematurely... Others just dont compare to Rafi Saab...

Has Kishore da himself heard you saying this, he would have slapped you.
Exactly what happened after Kishore Da got a Filmfare for his singing in Aradhana.
A Fan said the same to him & Kishore Da slapped that guy.
His exact words, "Mohammad Rafi ki chutti ek Kishore Kumar to kya Dus Kishore Kumar nahi lar sakte"

Do u know wht does it mean "when someone says that ushkiChutti karDenge"..it means to finish off..So, KishoreKumar said correctly..that no1 one Kishore..not even 10 Kishore Kumar can finish Rafi Saab.. But that does not means Rafi is greater than KishoreDa or vice versa.. Even 10 Rafi also couldn't able to finish KishoreDa..which is true.. If u compare popular chart..Kishore Kumar songs r way ahead than any other singer..because it's timing..RD Burman_KishoreDa..the greatest Jodi in music industry were playing their best innings..

sd, With due respects to Kishore, Kishore's songs are simple and can be sung by people in general quite comfortably and easily.. may be thats one reason for their popularity. Rafi songs are classics and immortal.. you need talent to do most of Rafi's songs.. Kishore's plus point is deep rounded voice... but nothing much beyond that...
If it is melodies, it is Rafi, if it is pathos it is Rafi, if it is singles it is Rafi... No other singer can match the number and variety that Rafi has sung...
if someone knows a thing or two in Hindi music they will agree to the above...

Kishore's voice had the depth of the river, the strength of the unrestrained sky and the purity of a noble soul.

What about Manna Dey? He was possibly the most talented of the lot His misfortune was that there was no star with whom he was identified, and hence he lost out. But he was one powerhouse singer.

Something seems to be wrong with Ruhan's statement. Humaraaz was released in 1967 whereas Sangam in 1964. How could RajKapoor give a song to MKapoor in Sangam after listening to the song from Humraaz. Or am I wrong?
