Real or Reel Life Heroes?
by Haridas Mandal on Jan 03, 2012 05:36 PM

We the people of India must send a strong message to the Indian Media that we need more REAL LIFE heroes as our Icons and not the REEL Life ones.
The day it happens India will be in the big league Nations along side our mighty neighbour China.

Bollywood brain drain

It's a shame that biggest indian movie industry has such a dearth of talent. 70% are south indian remakes and remaining 30% are inspired from hollywood/rest of the world movies. When Cinema becomes money generating machine the art creativity is killed. Look ar the crappy Khan's movie. Underworld sponsper money keep coming in and they have put in their pawns who control industry. On the other hand we have Production house like YRF/Badjatiya/Dharma productions who keep churning out formula movies one after another and no one can relate with them. There was a time when ppl like Raj kappor mortgaged their bungalow/studio for making movies. Dev anand once said to a question(why is he producing movies despite failureand loosing money) I came with RS 1.75 in pocket and as long I have more than that i will continue. I am pretty sure we have a pool that is more OR at par with south cinema's technician's however in money spinning machine we have just lost it. I understand director's are delivering what masses are asking and on top of that any business's lifeline is money, however we always have scope for some serious subjects and creativity where the hero doesn't necessarily have to be 6` chiesel features, six pack etc... Acting talent is the prime and sole reason for concers. Sometimes I wonder where to all those Film institute pass out.

dude you really need a break.. agreed that there were south movies that were vulgar but check out the national award website on the films nominated and winners categories, you will find malayalam, bengali, tamil with a mention of marathi, assamese, oriya, kannada, gujarati, punjabi movies... the hindi industry really needs to come good.. ppl know that in bollywood (an adaptation from hollywood name) to succeed one just does not need talent, one needs just looks... if you do not believe google the mallu-tamil movie releases of 2010 & 2011 and check these ratings on imdb these by script and story naration are different and far fetched simple execution with meagre budgets.. agreed actors might be pot-bellied and moustached but is this not the reality w.r.t a common man look where does the common man have 6pack abs and is omniscient from music to arts to stunts and dance and fights... at least there is a pottrayal of reality in these movies.. Guess there are few guys in hindi industry who stand to make a difference Aamir Khan, Anurag Kashyap, ImtiazAli, AyanRoy, ReemaKagti, ApoorvaLakhia, etc.. and that's wat i have seen in the last 5 yrs these production house has been immaculate with scripts and budgetting.. rather than south-remakes & hollywood copies..

also coming to remakes only south masala movies have been remade while none of the fabulous meaningful movies have been remade, which i believe should since hindi-film industry gives a larger canvassing and showcasing and reachablity to larger audience.. but as of now it is still masala stuff
