The problem with the kannada film makers is that the originality seen in the earlier days is now lost.while tamil and malayalees go for the themes which are closely related to their culture , kannadigas just try to copy ideas from hindi and other film industries. If they got rid of hindi slavery and start showing the dravidian and kannada culture with pride , like the tamils , then only it will regain it's past glory

Not an objective review
by sadananda on Feb 24, 2012 11:29 PM  | Hide replies

Here's another movie review by a seasoned journalist, who fails to criticize the film-makers. It is because of them that the Kannada film industry has not been able to raise the bar against other language movies that have become predatory in Karnataka. The reviews have to be objective. Alas! no journalist wants to be objective because they are on the payrolls of the film-makers. All leading newspapers either award 3 star or 4 stars for Kannada movies. If the movies are so good, then why are they failing at the box office? If you want a reality check, pl visit any of the theatres from Monday onwards, there will be hardly any people. Yash may be an emerging star, but still does not have the capacity to fill a theatre with audiences. It is time our film critics shed their favouritism and work for the overall benefit of the film industrt

Majority of the good movies are running successfully in theaters and nearing 50 days.Do you know what is the weekly rent for theaters in Majestic area? producers are not stupids to run the movies simply.

Lo sadananada mallikrajuna Are u dump? Films like kho Kho,sarathy,Vishunuvardhana, and chingari are running successfully in theaters. If you say that these movies are failing in the box office then sure I recommend your name for kannada Gamara in this coming Rajyotsava

Thanks for enlightening me about the film-making business. In 2011, 124 Kannada films were released of which only 6 made money! Do you know of the 124 Kannada films, how many were by first time producers? For any industry to be on the growth trajectory, success rate has to be in double digits. Since 2008, the success rate of Kannada films annually has been single digit. I never said Chingari, Vishnuvardhana and Sarathy did not make money. Kho Kho is not successful. If you are so keen on knowing whether Kho Kho earned revenue, pl meet the producers Bhaskar and Adi Narayana and ask them if they want to produce another film. I do not understand why people are taking this discussion personally? If you want to know the collections of Lucky during the first week, Mr Krishna Poojary, producer Radhika's assistant is just a stone throw away distance from Kanishka hotel in Gandhinagar

Dear Sada-ananda,being close to Kannada Film industry i know that every producer try to get the money back for their investment. They are in safe hands else you will not see 2-3 new movies getting released in state every week. The biggest forte for kannada films is their story and melodious songs where you can not find in Hindi and other languages.Every producer gets 30% of his capital back only from Audio CS..Can you believe this. The original review is very apt for this movie.

Gurugale, 30% of the capital recovered from audio CS? come on, give me a break! Pl check with Anand Audio's Mohan Chabria, only Jackie and Super audio rights were sold for more than 45 lakhs...The average going rates are between 25-30 lakhs for other films. The mail trail here also discusses about first time producers (outside film industry). A very important point, no first time producer has dared to produce a second film in 2010 or 2011. Lahari, Ashwini Akash and Anand Audio are bleeding boss. Audio sales is no more profitable. The Audio companies also buy video and digital transmission rights along with audio; that is the situation now

Yash exposed! Lucky flop! Check this week's tabloid Hai Bangalore for Yash's reputation; Lucky celebrates success in the absence of producer Radhika! What does it mean?
