Sholay earned about 15 crore (US$2.73 million) in India in its first run, which was many times its 2 crore (US$364,000) budget, earning it an "All Time Blockbuster" status. That level of earnings was a record that remained unbroken for nineteen years, which is the longest time for having held the record. It doubled its original gross over re-releases during the late 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, and early 2000s, bringing the distributor's share to 22 crore (US$4 million). Official box office records are not kept in India, but it is often cited that after adjusting the figures for inflation, Sholay is the highest grossing film in the history of Indian Cinema.Other sources place the adjusted figure lower, but still put it near the top of the List of highest-grossing Bollywood films. AMIT DARMENDRA pair is ikon for friendship for many generations especially AMIT spoiling the proposals of marriage of viru paaji in mausi's home
In short the film is good entertainment, worth watching by paying a meagre amount and spening 2-21/2 hrs in the theatre and forgeting worries of this world which is of full of anxiety, frustration, Stress and hardship. Thanks
Its a Nice Time Pass Movie...worth spending money...You will really like & admire Salman in this movie...His character makes you belive that there is a Chulbul Pandey
Its ironic that in a country where the current issue is the manner in which women are being treated, the smash hit is going to be a movie that includes lines like..I am a Tandoori and consume me with alchol.. If we only stop to think for a while, its not the Politicians making these movies or dancing in the isles to the songs..the responsibility is collective and unless we change our perception of women we will continue to be looked at as premitive ..please understand if we have excepted that this is the kind of language we are comfortable with and fine with our kids watching..as is the case here..where is my country as movies are only a reflection of the masses projected tecnically and visually to futher indivisuall benifits while denouncing any responsibility of its consiquences.. Why so serious????????????????
They shouldn't have made Dabangg-2. They should have kept the originality as it is...This has spoiled it...Nothing new to offer in this movie...Just using Salman for what he has become famous for in the last 3-4 yrs....
