He is like salman khan of south. A big star and no one knows why? People boast of everything he does. I mean there is a guy who glorified the fact that he doesn't do promotions. Sounds like a star tantrum to me.
This is a rough box office report of our SS Lingaa.
Total number of screens includes overseas = 5000. Average number of shows world wide in a day = 5 Average seating capacity in a screen = 800 The total of people going to see the film in one day on it's release world wide is approximately 2 core( 5000 x 5 x 800).
If the average cost of single ticket is calculated as Rs 100 then the first day collection itself would reach the 200 crore mark. It is obvious that the film would be full house for all shows for 12,13 & 14 hence the film would reach at least 300 to 400 core within 3 days.

Super star rocks and no other actor in the ulagam will not even imagine of this.
Besides this the satellite, audio, I tunes rights etc would be a bonus to this film.

Maybe thats why is is so popular not only in India but also in other south east asian countries who are oblivious to the Khans and Bachhans.
dont write comments about bharathiyar here looking at some forwarded post in facebook and also as if ur celebrating mahakavi's and other freedom fighter's birthday very grandly.. what did u do on bharthiyar's birthday last year ?? rajini may not be big scholar like bharathi but he is very good person and till now nobody suffered any harm or loss because of rajini he even returned back the money when his movies went flop which no actor in the past or future will ever even think of doing it. u've seen many ppl criticise rajini but till now rajini never critisized anybody..Rajini is the idol for many people and i dont think there is anything wrong rajini fans celebrating hir birthday
