Is probably the most overrated film maker in tamilm cinema.. the truth is tamil cinema lacks good writers/directors these days.. Most films are fit for front benchers and guys like guatham thinks if u speak english, it is meant for the elite audience.. Gone are the days of mahendran, balu mahendra, early mani ratnam.. today it is all trash.. movies meant of the illiterate like vijay, ajith ,simbu or movies meant for pseudo-intellectuals like kamal's , gautham's..

Ramesh - I think you are not completely right. Vinnaithandi and Kakka Kakka are good films of Gautham, Even Pachaikili Muthucharam for most part. Its one thing to appreciate older directors, but quite another to put down the newer crop. Gautham is as good a director as any body else. You never know if Bharathiraja or bagyaraj would have clicked if they had started now!
He delivered 2 good movies in Kaakha Kaakha and VV,but when he totally sucks in love movies, with the exception of minnale.....Vaaranam Aayiram had a very torturing second half with overuse of English...Anyway,the movie was just a retake of Cheran's Thavamai thavamirundhu.....
Similarly,VTV sucked to the core....The movie was slow, the dialogue delivery was too artificial and the climax was too predictable......The only saving grace are the songs......
But nevertheless,Gautham Menon has become a fashion statement among our youth.....as they think being his fan makes u think u've a good taste in cinemas....just like Kamal Hasan fans are....
Now,please start ur bantering towards...Naa ennaku selavane 120 rupee kaaga thaan pesuneen...I'm not a fan of any actor or director...I view every movie independently without any prejudice

Although i have not seen all his movies, i feel that his action movies are better then the love stories. With the love stories, he risks repeating himself.

I accept Varanam Ayiram is not good in second half, But First half was so romantic. How can you compare those two films? I don't think you are a movie buff.
In VTV, Which director can show Simbu & Trisha to be more beautiful than before?
I believe he brings a new trend to romantic cinemas after Maniratnam.

Hi Raja...
I found VTV exruciating painful to watch because Simbu keeps repeating "Naan En Jessie'a love pannunen" to the point from being cool to cheesy...
Trisha always ending a sentence with Karthik...
The dialogue delivery is so wooden and artificial...It isnt how people normally speak
The story is too slow....
and the climax is too predictable.....
If u want to see where gautham menon got inspiration, see 500 days of summer...though I'm not a big fan of romantic movies,I loved it like anything....
Just because a hero toned down his usual overacting doesnt mean that its good acting and just because there is liberal usage of English doesnt mean a modern film

KB is a good director but his words of appreciation cannot be taken for granted. Such things happen in all professionalism. No one dares to condemn or comment on stage except a very exceptional people. Rajini did not dare to oppose/condemn MK when he said Pongal is the Tamil New Year day and forced all temple priest to perform New Year Pooja only on that day and Rajni continued to be present on all stage shows thrown open by MK and his family banners. Even KB did not oppose it. Infact KB is a Brahmin biter like MK. Probably, he is a default brahmin by birth.
i think this will be a slow movie. with 7 songs certainly i expect the movie to be very slow. keeping in mind with todays trend of pacy movies i can only say all the best.....
