if anybody knows kindly tell me when mammooty and mohanlal announce their retirement. I still dont know why all the directors and producers are still behind with them. These two doesnt know what is dancing at all. Due to that we cant able to see any dazling songs in malayalam. Still outside kerala people thing malayalam movies as dull movies. Its really high time for wake up.

correctly analyzed, for outsiders malayalam movies are dull and those dull movies which are closer to real lives are accepted by malayalees, they too see Northie movies to see dance and masala but they cant accept malayalam movies to go down to that level.

Mr.Satish,
Why are you so much worried about their retirement... Dancing and 6 pack is not the only things in cinema. No movies are hit only with these ingredients. Out of 80 movies released per year, only 10-12 movies are released out of them. You go and watch other 70 movies if you are still concerned about malayalam movies.

both are great actors ...though i am a fan of both ...i feel they should take roles which suit their age at this point of time ...considering they are acting with actors like Amala Paul and Charmee who are almost young to be their grandaughters is something difficult to digest

Agreed they don't dance. If you need to watch dance, don't go and watch movies of Mohanlal or Mammooty. Do we have any stars in site just half as good as these two. Do we really need to see dance in movies? You can watch some reality show.
be bringing in the crowds (and the cash), then why do so many pretensious directors and producers keep on vending the tired, laboured and monotonous 'acting' of 'biggies' such as Mohanlal, Mammootty, Dileep and the various two-bit heroines?
Why is not a single producer/director team able to break out from this dreary mould and offer a well made 'laugh riot' with just the laughs? Why is it not striking a single director that a 'laugh riot' can be well presented with just the actors whose identity is built upon making people laugh?
When would such a well made picture - with only Jagathy, Mala, Harisree, Saleemkumar, Suraj, Kalpana and such others in the cast with the 'serious' actors avoided like the plague - be made?
For an industry that strains every sinew to copy and paste everything that is easy to copy and paste from the western cinema world, why is such strain not being taken to emulate the numerous successful movies that have been made in the west with only 'comedians' and 'comediannes' in the cast?

I think producers go after 'biggies' in the hope that more people will go to the theaters. It is not Hollywood, our movies are released in 60 to 80 screens and most of them are single screen with low ticket rates. Initial collection is crucial. I agree if it is a well made movie it may do well, but we don't have talented directors. To do comedy we have directors like Priyadarshan... who are copy-cats. Compare the collections of Mayamohini and Duplicate which had Suraj in the lead role. Both movies are superhits, but Mayamohini made close to 20 C and Dupilcate 4 C. Can we say that Mayamohini is a better movie that Duplicate???
