His dad named him Haasan not Hassan
by Neelam on Apr 18, 2012 06:44 PM  | Hide replies

Hassan was a 'surname' the self-proclaimed atheist (read H indu basher) gave himself. His father Srinivasan named his children CharuHaasan, ChandraHaasan and KamalaHaasan (meaning the one whose smile is that of a lotus).

He registered himself as Kamal HaSSan (to appeal to the North Indian psyche) and now attributes all sorts of rubbish to his late father! How pathetic!

All this 'solidarity with my brothers' is his usual hogwash, to project himself as a (pseudo)-intellectual, which mainstream media loves to portray.

If he really wants to show his non-racist attitude, how come none of his flings/ affairs/ marriages have been to dark-skinned ladies? Why does he go after gories all the time? Spewing venom at one particular minority community (Tamil Brahmins) at every given opportunity on and off screen while shedding crocodile tears for the profiling of another minority community speaks of nothing but double standards, something these pseudo-secularists are well known for.

The fact is he was sitting bricks when he was detained at the US airports. If he was really keen on changing his name to show his solidarity, let him change it to the obvious ones like la. aden or gad. dhaaffi!

Enough fooling people!

Very true. Kamal has been a master of contradictions. One movie - agenda will be to elevate Indian cinema to global platforms and one gets to hear some much of dope on how a film maker needs to pay attention to quality. Once the movie bombs (like many of these efforts), he will turn up with a cheap and to-the-front-benchers movie. Never does global cinema and quality play a role here. It s commercial - he says. If that is the case, be direct and do not claim to be a messiah when u wana be a massager.

And he does play minority games and we know it so well, dont we ? Times have changed and ppl do see thru it. Maybe Kamal believes ppl are still dumb.

You know more about Kamal than he himself knows. Are you by any chance related to his late father? He has always been 'Haasan', not 'Hassan'. Watch his Tamil films, thats what he is called by. Ask his millions of fans. He is an atheist. What is so self proclaimed about him with regards to atheism? Did he got to a temple to pray and then called himself an atheist? Did you see it? Stop putting all nonsense on him just to make yourself sound great...

He has always been against the concept of GOD itself. Not any particular religion.

Perhaps you see the Hindu bashing influence more as he was brought up as a Hindu.

Did you know he used to freelance as a evangelist in his early days distributing the holy book at bus stops and enrolling people into their fold? So much for an Atheist!

Will he dare make a movie or speak in a public forum against any other religion other than Hin  duism as a non-believer?

Even in acclaimed films like Anbe Sivam, he mocks the Hin dus  and depicts the central villain character as a staunch Shiv bhakt  who is evil personified while portraying the nu ns as the most benevolent and ever-caring. He wasn't just the actor here, he wrote the script too and pushed his Indian Com munist agenda forward (once again, read anti- h in.du).

While poking fun at the 'funny' Tamil pronunciations of Brahmin ladies on TV debates, has he bothered to listen to the attrotious Tamil diction of his production no.1, Ms Shruti? Let him start with some Tamil lessons for her, and get his house in order before changing the world.

Belief, or the lack of it is a private affair, I agree. But it's when celebrities impose their ideologies and bias through media, it does open up a can of worms, and they should be open to public views as well.

Loved what you have written Ratan.. well said.. off late Kamal's repeated digs and his verbal diarrhea on his beliefs are getting a little too nauseating.. he is a gutless coward for not speaking about any other religion because that will definitely affect his other business interests..

He never registered his name as Hassan. It was always Haasan from the beginning. Get your facts right before you criticize someone.

Kamal is quite right about the racial profiling we do in India all the time. We don't like dark-skinned people(even Indians) for example.
