Rajinikanth's reputation continued to solidify in the 80's primarily due to movies remade from Amitabh Bachchan's Bollywood hits. Amitabh hits such as Khud-Daar, Namak Halaal, Lawaaris, Trishul, and Kasme Vaade, were remade into hit Rajinikanth starrers Padikkadavan, Velaikaran, Panakkaran, Mr. Bharath, and Dharmathin Thalaivan, respectively.
Many Malayalam films have been remade in other languages, including Dindigul Sarathy, Sundara Travels, Friends, Ninaithale Inikkum, Perazhagan, Kuselan, Chandramukhi (in Tamil), Classmates, Chandralekha, Nagavalli (in Telugu), Aaptamitra, Manmatha, Bellary Naga (in Kannada), and Garam Masala, Kyon Ki, Billu, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, Hera Pheri, Chup Chup Ke, Khatta Meetha, Bodyguard (in Hindi) and Kaavalan (in Tamil).

Glad that still malayam movies getting rewarded outside of kerala. there are number of talented story writers and directors making story rich there. good for malayalam film industry that directors are directing films in multiple languages. one other thing is if a film hits in kerala screen, its allmost assured that that can beat any other audiance. 100% guarandeed!!
