I think SRK movies dont come to this guy. SRK has paid Raja Sen to give him great reviews however bad the film maybe.
I would like to disagree with your review, Mr. Paresh,
I think Pranayam is a rare film in which the second half is actually much better than the first. the first half - especially the flashback sequences - are atrocious!
BUT.
It is a brave, different and fresh story that Blessy tells in this movie. There are few films in which the love story of three retired people is portrayed, in fact, I can't remember any right now.
Lalettan delivers a brilliant performance, which is subtle and restrained - It was a treat to watch him act from the confines of a wheelchair... and all this when he is not the lead actor. I hope that this is his return to acting form and sensibility in the kind of movies he chooses to do. In fact, the three 'real' actors - Lalettan, Jayaprada and Kher - are the soul of the film, it soars on their performance and relationship in the second half.. it makes up for all the mishaps in the first half.
I only wish Blessy paid more attention to the secondary characters in his film, their performances and their dialogues (these fail particularly in the scenes with Kher, his granddaughter and her boyfriend).. and developed some fineness to his film-making craft - especially when he uses computer graphics - there is a passable, but unpolished butterfly that keeps showing up and a horrendous eagle-flight.
I think the movie is worth that weak first half, to just get to the second half.

Dear Palicha, this is an excellent movie and please don't put your crap reviews here. As your name suggest, your life and thought itself seems to be a palicha ("Failure" or "Mistake" is the actual translation of malayalam word "Palicha")

Good movies are spoilt as i told earlier only by critics, and this so called Palicha is not an exception in that list. These idiots do not think how much a director and actors put effort in making a movie and all of sudden they say the movie lacks depth, story and so on.

Have any of you seen the movie? Or are you that old to exactly understand their feelings?
It is sad to see websites of stature such as rediff putting out reviews that describe the plot. Describing the plot is not acceptable in a review. Why would I see the film now that the plot is open? A shame!!

You should still see the film for the performance. The script does not have depth just as it is supposed to be. Thankfully the depth is what it should be neither more nor less and the performance is what this movie is all about.
