How many people here believe that A R Rahman's music has lost his charm over the years...He has become monotonous with his music.. nothing really worthwhile has come out of him off-late

Raj..I agree that IR is a great composer.. but that doesn't not make AR secondary.. they have earned their respect and have achieved a lot in their time.. AR has been far more successful in catering to a global audience n it shows in his music & results obviously.. I think it is unfair to pit them against each other, when they have immense respect for each other and have achieved so much individually..
I hope you know that Rahman composes in Tamil and other languages as well.. If Rediff was considering only Hindi film music, it was a big bummer to have missed out Takshak,Taal & Lagaan.. if u were talking about his music across all languages, I cannot even begin to imagine that you missed out on Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya, Thiruda Thiruda, Maymaadham, Sangamam et al.. VTV is an album forever with each track refusing to leave ur mind.. For those of you who haven't heard the album, please try to get urself a copy.. Rockstar was brilliant undoubtedly; but if you ask me what my fav Rock track by Rahman so far is, then it undeniably will be AAROMALE from VTV.. Please give it a listen to understand the genius that Rahman is..
Karuthamma and kizhaku cheemayile were 2 movies that changed the face of tamil folk music forever...Rahman in his own style redesigned folk music for the urban audience..i consider those 2 as his most radical till date..there are 100 hundred other favourites but no real game changers. But like everyone else I hope his best is yet to be!

How about Duet? Indira is another one. My personal fav is Pudhiya Mugam. Netru illadha matram will keep you mesmerized any day.

Let me guess.. you are a 50 plus year old male, who still misses listening to radio cricket commentry. In your transistor radio, only Illayaraja songs will sound good. It's about time for you to go to Kaashi

Why we need to run down other. I like Ilaiyaraaja and thinks he is best and you think Rahman is best. Why should we prove the other's choice is incorrect to satisfy us. How in the field of arts everyone can have same fav?? I am 33 years old and mad about Ilaiyaraaja. I have my brother who is 36 and loves Rahman. Don;t know that I have to wait till the age of 50 to like Ilaiyaraaja's music.
