Can you imagine Martin Scorsese's movies or Nolan's movies doing well in India ? No because it requires intelligence to watch and understand these movies which majority of Indian people lack. Its bitter truth.

For example oo7 James Bond Movies are the most bundle (unrealistic) Movies. But every one will watch without fail.
There is a difference between good films and hit films. Just because a film is a hit doesnt mean its good. Stars dont make good films. Good directors do. I think RGV is right in saying Indian people dont care about quality. They just want to see some songs, fights and their stars in action. That's why director doesnt seem important. In US, directors are given importance as quality of film comes first for them.

Most of the time these movies struggle to get distribution and dont get released even if they are good. If a movie doesnt have recognizable faces, it will be a hard sell. The bad aspect of film making is even though its a great medium, it costs a lot of money to make a movie and if it doesnt have stars, people wont watch it. That's the fate of cinema.

aarrghh! why r people so daft? it is a combo of 2-3 msgs! didn't Twitter let u open an acct. haha
How come Salman didn't had a year till Wanted came his way, even though he was a superstar then. How come Shahrukh khan films like Asoka,Paheli and other flopped if he is so called the No.1 star. How come Aamir's Mela, Mangal Pandey flopped.
C'mon RGV, u are becoming mad day-by-day.
There is nothing that a star will guarantee sucess nor a top director guarantees success, Its just that the making, packaging, marketing, release all mix, audience mindset appropriately makes the film a success.

I agree. I think his lack of success is driving him nuts. He started making too many films and forgot that film making is NOT a factory and is a creative process which requires lot of time and attention to detail. Cmon RGV wake up, you are a good Director, but have lost your direction a little bit. Dont lose hope, focus and you will achieve success as you have in the past.

Yes. RGV gone mad. Possibly getting depressed due to successive failures.
Take the case of a Tamil movie: Subramanya Puram. Neither the director was famous, nor the actors. A village story, pretty old aged songs, no fashion style... it was runaway hit in Tamil and repeat in Telugu... again runaway hit.
I agree, it not the director, it is not the actor, but good packaging, very good marketing and timing and ofcourse meeting the taste of the people.
Coming from a director RGV's calibre, Im totally shocked to hear this. I dont know what prompted him to tweet this, but I completely disagree with him. People goto watch good movies. Period. If the actor is well known, the film achieves instant success. If the actor/director are unknown, it takes a while for the word to spread. RGV was an unknown when he made Shiva and so was Nagarjuna (I think), but that became a big hit. So is the case with so many other films over the years which have become hits and made their actors/directors overnight stars.

He is saying the bitter truth. It might be hard to digest his view but it is the reality. Why would films like Ready and Bodyguard be blockbusters if it was not for Salman Khan? Who cared about the director of the movie? or the story? Ramu may sound mad but he has the gutts to tell the truth. If he makes a film with Salman Khan do you think it will flop?

If those are good examples of Salman hits, there were plenty of flops of Salman movies. Why? Just put Salman, and a hit? Is it true?
