Bharat Ratna for India's Bhupen da which has been long overdue...he should have got it long back...but it's better late than never even though posthumously...not only because he was a musician...but because of national integration...because he was a symbol of unity for the Indian nation...i am saying this even though i am not an Assamese
The Jajabor Aghori (meandering minstrel) has finally found his home... ...never to leave again!!! He was not an Assamese, neither was he an Indian. BhupenDa belonged to Mankind, in the same league as Jesus, Gandhi, Mandela and Lennon - those who sculpted Mankind, whose mark is seen, felt by Mankind as a whole. Who transcends any border, barrier and boundary. A legend in his lifetime - Mankind won't see his like in a long time to come - if at all.
The news says 1.07 crores of people have poured into Guwahai from Assam,Bengal and other parts of the country to pay their last homage to the singer composer music director lyricst of the millienium.
Even Rahul jee and Diggi Uncle have dashed to Guwahati to catch in on the crowd assembly although Bhupen da won election from CPI ticket and was a BJP Rajya Sabha MP...

some mistakes - he should be an Independent MLA in 1967 election and then contested MP election on BJP ticket as he was close friend of A B Vajpayee. But your 1.07 crores should be a correct . His demise has turned stalemate in the entire Eastern side of India including Bangladesh , West Bengal , Arunachal, Nagaland in addition to Assam.
