Bharat Ratna for India's Bhupen da which has been long overdue...he should have got it long back...but it's better late than never even though posthumously...not only because he was a musician...but because of national integration...because he was a symbol of unity for the Indian nation...i am saying this even though i am not an Assamese
A crusader against all atrocities, miseries to human being which is aptly reflected in his numerous immortal songs touching souls of every human. The smell of Assamese soil blended with ethnic cultural diversities of North Eastern states in one string will remain an immortal treasure for us. He has made the world aware the magical rhythm of music with human touch which is the essence of the soil of Assam. Conquered the hearts of millions of his admirer through across the country and brought recognition of Assamese culture at national level a feat no one from Assam could ever achieve. Long Live Bhupen Da in the hearts of millions of admirers across the country and world. May his great soul rest in peace
Very begining of my childhood I have seen him to sang on the stage, and from then I became one of his admirer. His song will remain immortal with us and specially in my memmory. Dr Sandeep Poddar
One of the finest of his generation - leaves behind a legacy not easy to match. His 'Ami Ek Jajabor' and 'Ganga boicho keno' (among n umerous others) will remain in the hearts of his fans for years to come. May he find peace!
He is the Icon of Assamese music, culture, and literature. He has brought the picture of neglected 'Assam' as well as 'North Eastern States' into the picture of India as well as outside of India. Today we missed our beloved Bhupen da but we will keep his memory forever because we love him. Gathering of today's in Guwahati has shown how was he a popular figure in Assame that so far nobody is able to do so !!!. We miss you Bhupen da.
