economically viable
by B Raman on May 28, 2011 11:52 AM  | Hide replies

she was a no-one in canada among her people ... so, for her this was a great opportunity be some-one among indians.

for the music directors in india who are trying to get singers from the west paying obscene amounts of money in order to export their products to people in the west she is a very economically viable option. They will make a celebrity singer out of her.

Good point.

But personally speaking she has a good voice too. Only the hindi accent needs a bit of polishing.
In creative arts ONLY PASSIONATE people can become professionals, forget great artists. So its struggle all the way.

I have seen few of the best street performers across the globe who just love what they do. They don't care for monetary gains much. Their art is something spiritual for them in life.

You might never understand this.

now stop being a PASSIONATE FOOL.

I never said that she sucked at it. I am sure she would win Canadian Idol if she gave it a try!

and I don't think I need to prove my credentials of training in carnatic music to make you understand that I understand music.

i dont think he disagreed with you much on whtevr you had to say. But this is somethiong common n all the Carnatic music trained pepole i have seen. they have a oh-i'm-so-great-coz-i'm-carnatic-trained attitude, not to mention about the need to be behave prpoerly as is evident from your post. now suck on that.

Looking at your reaction I think I got my point through.

Here are few simple questions for you. You don't have to post the replies here.

1.Struggle - Is Carnatic music your main profession and a source of living? (Yes / No)

2.Passion - Have you performed in front of an audience without being paid anything at the end of the day? (Yes / No)

3. Envy - Were you rejected by established artists like Sonu Nigam and AR Rahman? (Yes / No)

Judge yourself my friend. We don't look upto you and your "Carnatic" musical skills anyways. You seem to suffer from inferiority complex.

lol.. u guys are totally off the track.
If you stop extrapolating and assume things about me and just look at what I said you will get the point.

You began with "you will never understand art, passion and blah blah" assuming a lot of things about me which is what I clarified in my reply.

coming back to the point, if there was another person exactly like her except that if she were of indian origin, all this hype and hoopla would not have happened.

i see. So you only understood the last statement in my previous comment..never mind.

I mean she is just a singer. I thought you were never on track in first place when you tried to mix economics with a singing talent. why are you being so cynical about this singer? Is it part of your "Carnatic" music curricullum?

Ok, Name one quality you see in common amongst all the great singers around the world?

Lets see if you can answer this question if you are really too worried about the economic viability of a singing talent.

Good luck!
