Rather than mentioning oblique references you could have cited 'Aatank in Aatank', an Aamir Khan starrer, which till date remains one of the most deplorable remakes of Coppola's classic.

Godfather was great, but more a documentary
by Ruchika on Mar 29, 2011 04:34 PM  | Hide replies

I have seen most of the listed movies but to be very frank although Godfather is rated very highly but in my view the film was more of a documentary a typical Oscar movie(slow/boring/too long). In the above movies i find Satya and Sarkar as very tight and chiseled scripts (very fast paced and brilliant acting/setting)

Mr. Prashant Godfather is an motion adapted from World renowned novel The Godfather written by mario Puzo, so at the first place everybody is drawing inspiration from the novel not from Godfather film. Hollywood is good as a pioneer, and technical brilliance but trust me Indian actors like Amitabh/Dilip Kumar/Sanjeev Kumar/Naseer/Om puri/Aamir/Ajay etc. etc are far better than Hollywood A listers, as per followers of US even Arnold is a great actor

Agree with you.
Godfather is overated, and we Indians just ape the west.
Satya is much better.
Even Shiva was good.
Best is Ab-tak-chappan.

The Godfather references which are all-too visible -- Velu's intensity, his Vito-like morality in his actions, his adopted son (who eventually shoots him) --- There is no adopted son shooting in God Father. Get the facts right...

and please stop comparing other films to God Father
