he also has a remedy, wanna taste it buddy ? He's shortly opening a Direction School in Rediff's Mahalaxmi office premises. Opening batch of students include James Cameron, Chris Nolan, Cohen Brothers, Peter Jackson, Robert Zemeckis and Steven Spielberg.
If you really know something about direction, you wont have the atrocious idea of Nolan getting a nomination. Inception is his worst work till date. Regarding TSN, except critics, everyone hated it! I was really happy that it got what it deserved and didn't get what it didn't! I am glad that atleast in the Acedamy, 'Common Sense' still prevails, which sadly doesn't in most of the film talkers!
And regarding Raja, its just a case that he takes himself too seriously, classik symptoms of OCD.
Having read most of his opinions, I feel great that 9 out of 10 times his analysis hits the dust!
His naive, arrogant & irresponsible ways can be best summed up when he puts up a question like "Or you donot take Oscars too seriously?" to the great Bale!
The greatest mistake is to find objectivity in art, the fatal flaw to be found aplent in most Indian art critics.

i guess you are in a dream world. TSN and Inception are highlt acclaimed by critics as well as the audience. Go and check the box office figures. And i completely support Raja Sen's opinion, infact 8 out of 10 he hits nail on its head. And everyone has a unique writing style, even yours seem arrogant and self patronizing to me.
Methinks Rediff is full of about-to-be-retired bunch of oldies and this Raja Sen is the only "dude" around. The brash arrogance and the "wannabe" stuff that is so obvious in his articles makes me think he fantasizes himself to that guy in office whom all the lady staff swoon over, the "stud" and the stuff of internet legend on the lines of Chuck Norris or Rajinikanth. The truth is that millions of impossibly frustrated and/or severely constipated techies just want a poster boy whom they can see their evil boss in, and Raja Sen fits the bill to a T with his arrogance and holier-than-though attitude. So Raja, the next time you feel that I-am-Superman feeling building inside you, read this comment.
Franco looked as if he had forgotten his anti-depressants. Anne did try to inject some verve but with a stilted co-host smirking jackassedly by her side, she couldn't redeem the show much. All in all, the worst Oscar I have seen in years.
Couldn't agree more with Raja, though I think it's Atticus Ross and not Atticus Finch.
Neither King's Speech nor Social Network..for me Aronovsky did teh trick with the dark portrayal of a ballad dancer in Black Swain which deserved an oscar..but anyways im used to it..first it was Slumdog then Hurt Locker (when Marvellous Inglourious Basterd was thr in nomination) and now King's Speech Oscar is going the Filmfare way giving the popular awards n not the best in terms of cinematic excellence (thank god Udaan got a critics one atleast)...[Even in India 7 khoon maaf is dumped only to lap up age old rom com in form of Tanu weds manu]

I've followed Raja Sen's comments avidly purely for the debate and uproar they create so just felt the need to comment at this atrocious article. Having seen both The Kings Speech and the The Social Network, and enjoying both immensely, I feel the Academy gave the award to the correct movie. The Kings Speech was nothing short of a masterpiece and Colin Firth was OUTSTANDING. On the other hand you didnt feel any sypmpath for Jesse's character in the Social Network even though both characters were born with pretty much everything going for them. Raja I feel sometimes you write extreme articles just to get extreme reactions - and you seem to have succeeded in doing that this time too.
Raja though at times you have a some original view point but most times it is overzealous fan boy submission to the so called current smart view Googled over the net with tweak here or there. Alright FB and hence Social Network are the current coolest thing, but given internet moguls ephemeral dominance and no earth shattering originality of FB, only time will tell how much of their success will stand the test of longevity it has. Personally I find Google a better bet given their omnipotent march towards Search For Everything, Genetics, Green Energy etc. as they are more fundamental.
Now coming to you being upset of the staid King's Speech upstaging yuppie Social Network, for what's worth King's was definitely more profound than the smart FB movie. For some reason its a recent fad to associate young and yuppie with smartness and superior intelligence vis-?is more non flashy lesser young types. I believe this one of those myths to which is too cool to be called a bluff. I believe the most intellectually profound and lasting stuff was done from mid 19th century to about mid 20th century when the likes of Einstein, Bohr, Planck, Heisenberg etc were alive together that was some crowd. We are now still connecting the dots based on their stuff and reaping the benefits including the internet.
So Raja grow-up don't be just be a me too aping the nose-ringed geeks hooked on to FB. Reflected glory doesn’t make you anymore intelligent than you are.
Social Network was a good movie,no doubt, but at d end of d day it was a just a glorified documentary u normally watch in History Channel....I also read ur review for Inception...looks like u ddnt understand d movie at all and in the Sour grapes stratergy u just used GRE english to bash it.... Had to checked ystrdy's tweet u might have known that many were utterly disappointed that Inception ddnt win d oscar for original screenplay.... I personally didnt like Black Swan...however,Kings speech exceeded my expectation and i was sorry that Geoffrey Rush ddnt win an award....
Dont think U're Roger Ebert who decides the fate of d movies....and FYI even Ebert has been wrong many times in his career and he had to reverse his original verdict for many movies after their enormous run....
