Have you followed Mithun's career. He has always worked with lesser known directors and co stars and still managed to remain a major star. Unlike most other heros ( Amitabh, Shah Rukh etc ), Mithun hardly got any author backed role. He is an enigma by himself. Surely not the greatest actor or the greatest star around, but still among the most followed film personalities. Mithun's overall ratings in various traits would be Actor - Above Average Star - Between Great and Greatest Icon - Between Great and Greatest Human Being - Among the Greatest Public Opinion about him - Among the Best Social contribution - Great
So, you'll see , he is among the very best as an overall package.
