" If you dont think too much about these flaws -the movie is a ok watch, but do watch it for the a few things. First off comedy. Secondly if you are bala fan you will get your treat toward the end of the movie where they are a few bala-isms (shock factor followed by awe) tacked into the screenplay and story like - the nude flogging of the Zaminder and the eventual hanging on this giant tree over a small river - placing of the villains live body just beneath the dead Zamindar before cremation - the flash back narration that happens when the boys dance in front of the dead body as to what happened when they tried to take revenge.
The review is pretty close to the truth but the following is not true, 1. "dialogues are not funny" - the humor in this movie is a class apart and of very high quality. You will genuinely appreciate it, it is rib tickling comedy. This is actually the major strength of the movie and is the single most reason to watch it. 2. "Vishal's many acting talents. It ends up doing, you feel, the exact opposite." - Vishal's acting is this movie is mind boggling. There is not one scene where he has over or under acting. Obviously this is the creation of the director, whose in this case is Bala - the master character creator, caster and executioner. 3. "Avan Ivan does have, at its heart, a nice storyline" = Absolutely false, the movie lacks a decent storyline and is major letdown. There are so many flaws in the story that at one point you feel you are being fun of. "What is heck is going on with the property dispute with the Zamindar and this other guy ? Why is this in the film ? What is it contributing to the story line?" "What the heck happened to the truck load of stuff worth one crore that Vishal drove off with? Again why is this in the story ?" "What is going on with these heroines? There is no way they can fall of people like this. And why are they left out of the movie in the end ?" "Where r the moms of these guys
the review above is true except for the last statement it is a worth watching movie after a long time hats off to the crew ,i suggest all tamil audience to watch this movie. special applauds to vishal and gm kumar from an ordinary citizen.
