Kannada has some of the very good to great movies in children category Chinnari Mutha Bettada Hoo C/o footpath Prathama Ushakirana Tuttori are very very good and have worn national & international awards for best film, best acting. These movies have a very positive impact on the society and any day can qualify & win best children films of India.
I don't see how a film like Masoom can be labeled a children's film, something that deals with the issue of an illigitimate child is certainly too complex for a child to fathom. On a similar plane I would say Tare Zameen Par is also a subject for grown ups. So except for Safed Haathi, Makdee and Blue Umbrella and maybe to an extent Stanley ka Dabba the rest are idiotic movies. Whoever compiled this list should be fired.
This list shows that best hindi children film. Not other language films.
If you do not regionalise, Tamil Films like Pasanga and Anjali would be the best films ever made by Indian film makers. If anybody has doubt, pl see to those films. Those are 100% Children based Film. Again I request everyone, please dont regionalise.
They have mixed up films FOR the children and films ON Children. Is Rediff expecting any child to understand the complexity of marital life in Masoom? Or do they think that presence of one single song like Lakdi ki Kathi makes a movie FOR the children? How come a song like Kate Nahin Katte Yeh Din Ye Raat make Mr. India a movie FOR the children. Has any child understood the issue of dyslexia in TZP. The film has blatantly missed out the children's classics (National Award Winners too) like The Golden Fortress (Ray), The Adventures of Gupy and Bagha (Ray), The Elephant God (Ray), Sabuj Dwiper Raja (Tapan Sinha), Aaj Ka Robinhood (Tapan Sinha), Kabuliwala (Tapan Sinha), Damu (Raja Sen), Bhombal Sardar (Nripen Ganguli), Koni (Saroj Dey, also the winner of the national award for best movie on sports) - ALL THESE ARE TRUE CHILDREN'S MOVIE. Not the kind of movies that Bollywood generate as children's movie. However, in India children do go with their parents to watch films like Murder, Gangster, Metro, Rock On, Rajneeti and enjoy their first step to adulthood much early in their age. No doubt we are the country with the high population and worst form of corruption.
