Rani - a superb actress
by rajashi ghosh on Jan 05, 2011 08:07 PM

Rani Mukherjee, the actress does not have any competition. Kareena kapoor, priyanka chopra, katrina kaif combined are not half as good as Rani. Where Rani lacks is the glamour department. She is not as glamorous as the ones mentioned above. The actresses mentioned above play second fiddle to the lead actors but Rani Mukherkjee is one of the few, along with Madhuri and Sreedevi, who has got more prominence and screen space than the lead actors. For example: Hum Tum

Media biased against Rani
by Heloise on Jan 05, 2011 05:50 PM  | Hide replies

I have long felt that the media is really biased against Rani. No other actress is bashed up by the media as she is, even after they deliver strings of flops and demonstrate the absence of acting abilities in film after film. So why is Rani always abused? Because she doesn't suck up to the media? Or because she isn't married to a person from a powerful film family? Or is it because she gives them the response they deserve when they spread rumours about her? What is it?

As for Mr. Raja Sen, I suggest you look at the body of work you have done before commenting on other people!

desparate

Rani is sooo desparate ... remember her scenes in Hdippa movie .. that didnt work. She knows that Jessica movie has got some buzz going with the promos etc. so she vouches it as her come back movie. and would do anything literally to get back on to the movie world.

Resorting to cheap marketing gimmicks

I fail to fathom why Vidya and Rani are 'kissing' each other in public - what does it have to do with the movie? The actors are trying too hard to sell the movie via such despicable acts.

It's okay to sell a movie with Katrina or mallaika cavorting suggestively though, is it?

Why take everything so seriously Mr. Sen. PR and Marketing have changed a lot in the last few years. Rani is just having to keep up with the trend. At least she's trying to make it fun. What can she keep saying about the movie that we haven't heard in the last few weeks - a lightness is what is needed and i'm sure she is promoting hard because that is what the producers expect from her. Perhaps it will also ensure that people actually come and watch the movie.

As for Vidya "playing along" and her "star being on the rise". Do you have some sort of mandate from her. Are you her counsel? Or could it be that she is just too boring to do anything else? Rani could play all of Vidya's past and future roles with a greater aplomb than Vidya.

If Vidya's star's on the rise than why isn't she doing movies with big male stars. Vidya only has the range for serious roles- Rani's done the lot!

It is safe to assume from your language and dismissive tone that Rani will not be getting a favourable report once you see NOKJ and that Vidya will get all the plaudits! If it makes you feel better, Mr. Sen, who can deny you such small luxuries. After all as a journalist you can twist anything to serve your point of view.

I totally agree. Mr. Sen's review will definitely favour Vidya. I don't understand why these journalists make a big deal of Rani's flops. Noone says anything about Abhishek Bachchan's 17 flops or all the flops Aishwarya had delivered. Not to mention the fact that both of then can't act for nuts. So I suppose flops and bad performances are forgiven as long as you're from a powerful family?
