Average Job

I think they did an average job hosting the Oscars. I think the Best Host ever for Oscars is Billy Crystal who did make a guest appearance, which received a standing ovation, most deservingly.

Both host's flopped

It seemed like they were are hosting some high school function. Anne Hathaway reminded me of Aishwarya Rai with her nervous laughter and "flaubs" and her "personal moments". Anne H is clearly not cut out for a show like the Oscars, James Franco sleep walked through the whole thing - he had a constipated look the entire time

Get back Billy Crystal

Get Back Billy..He is the only one.. Even Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin failed big time ( this is an awards show not a stand up comedy act)..Ricky Geravis is also over hyped and will fail in oscars...Anne Hathway and James Franco were the worst of the lot...

Completely agree. It was painful to watch these 2 clowns! Franco looked like he had really severed a limb... and Anne Hathaway came across as a complete bimbo! Yuck!
Crystal needs to be signed on to this gig until he dies!

Oscars apeing FILM FARE
by Tarlenanmaga on Feb 28, 2011 02:17 PM  | Hide replies

Oscar has its own dignity presenter should have good timing and importantly captivating the audience for 3 hrs.

I didn't see either of these in Franco or Hathaway, they were just acting lunatic and on and off jokes, which none of them enjoyed.

Ideal emcee for such events are Billy Crystal, Morgan Freeman , Steve Martin and Hugh Jackman.

When I was watching this year's Oscar show i could see lot of presentation which I think was inspired by our own Film Fare and Screen awards.

What? Did you see carefully? This years Filmfare with Ranbir and Imran was a complete copy of Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin gimmics pulled last year..right from introduction of Imran by Ranbir to the conclusion everything was copied man.

Morgan Freeman? That's actually a very nice thought. Maybe him and Samuel Jackson or Denzel Washington. Would be classy

Sorry, what I meant to say was, "Hugh hosted in 2009. Get your facts right."

Sad, sad choice

By the looks of the promo, Hathaway and Franco seemed to be the perfect pair, but whether they could pull of a joke, hmmm, not too sure.
Prior to the event, talk of the Academy people sparking a 'youth movement' by nominating the Social Network in a ton of categories ( which it deserved nevertheless), playing a video of auto-tuned movies (the only thing which was hilarious, or atleast close to it), and of course, appealing to the 'hip' generation of youth by getting these two to play hosts. Epic Fail? I think so.
In my opinion, watching both of them was like watching a mother trying to make up for her child's (Franco) 'devil-may-care attitude' by distracting the audience with her broad smiles and bad jokes. In a word, she was pitiable.
Franco was nothing but a stiff piece of furniture, who tried to make up for his stuck up attitude by dressing up as Marylin Monroe (by the way, more an insult than a tribute. I liked the Charlie Sheen part though.) Erm, too late Franco, too late. Can't make up for lost time. Hathaway's singing was splendid, good thing she did that number alone. Franco knew his place. What a relief. The opening act? Boring. Alec Baldwin evidently didn't even want to be in that video.
I wanted Hugh Jackman to host. Everyone did. Even Anne Hathaway during the show. Note the many jokes cracked about him. Overall, Hathaway couldn't save the day, 20 mins overtime, chemistry failed, and Hugh Jackman will host next year. Btw, Hugh hosted in 2009. Get your f

One of the most boring Oscars ever!
by Niranjan on Feb 28, 2011 01:06 PM

What a snooze fest this year's Oscars turned out to be! Good films got recognized but the ceremony itself was very boring. Anne was hyper-active behaving like a school girl at times and James Franco looked like he had spent sleepless nights over his PhD. Billy Crystal was the only saving grace in the snooze fest that was Oscar 2011!
