I do NOT agree

Boss, even just implying that The Social Network is better than Inception for an Oscar is BLASPHEMY. First of all, The Social Network is a BORROWED screenplay, and it released at the RIGHT time (when Facebook is all the rage). There is NOTHING ground-breaking about this movie, although it is good. Inception, on the other hand, involves 10 years of writing an ORIGINAL story, and showcasing that on the big screen with panache and beauty. And for me, ORIGINAL screenplay movies score over BORROWED screenplay ones. Inception was the FIRST COMPLETE MOVIE in Hollywood for a long time. But alas, creativity is dead in Hollywood, is it not?

And for that matter, open-ended movies leave the audience to think and discuss about it. THAT is what a movie should do. It should generate intelligent discussion (not just, OH, SO THAT'S WHAT HAPPENED TO FACEBOOK).

Does not matter what you think. What matters is what Raja Sen thinks.

Sorry to disappoint you, Mr. Undie Tiwari, but Raja Sen thinks WRONG.

Immature Article!!
by ravi bhaskar on Feb 25, 2011 05:46 PM  | Hide replies

1. Just because you didn't understand Inception, doesn't mean no one else did..
2. The Social Network as good a movie as it is is no "masterpiece".
3. The significance of True Grit as a movie will not be apparent to someone like you who has evidently seen the movie only after it's name featured on Oscar list.
4. And please explain what you mean when you say 127 hours "works---and fails because Boyle does too much with it". That does not even make sense. In what sense did Boyle do too much??
Mr Sen it is quite clear that you have no sense of movies. All your comments are there just for the sake of argument and make little sense. You are saying The Social Network because most websites and pundits are predicting it that way. It would have been okay if you actually felt like it. But your comments are incongruous and you are just copying all the views.
And thank god your mind does not drive Oscars. There are at least 4 movies in that list much much better than The Social Network. It might win, it might not but in now way the other movies are "also ran"...
