In Academy Awards in Hollywood (Oscars), the movies are not necessarily blockbusters. In fact many movies are not even known until they get the award and then people begin to watch those movies. Can you expect movies like Philadelphia (Tom Hanks as AIDS gay patient), Forrest Gump (again Tom Hanks as mentally challenged), The Rain Man (Dustin Hoffman as autistic) Eric Brockovich (Julia Roberts as social activist) just to name a few. In India the movie without any story, but just because it has some big stars or ran well at BO is given award. Thats why the record for maximum best actor awards is only 2 in Oscars (Tom Hanks, Dustin Hoffman, Day Lewis etc) where as in Bollywood we have the same person getting 10 awards and more rendering it really meaningless. The Best Actress Award goes to some unknown movies like Reader, The Blind Side etc. There is lobbying there too, but at least not as much as in Bollywood where awards are given for more for star value rather than acting.

it was highly dissapointing to watch the film fare awards and the results announced for the popular categories..anybody but shah rukh and kajol deserved the awards for best actors.v all no that shah rukh buys awards .so it was reall sad 1
