It took 88 years to get this man out of sight, but his memory will last my lifetime. He was my best.
Here is a short excerpt about him, from my book: SIMPLY MY WAY
Quote:
“However, what kept me clinging on to Hindi movies was the thespian trio - Dilip, Raj and Dev on whom revolved the industry’s greatest share of earnings.
Although Dev Anand came to be invariably listed last of the three on the charts, he was my best, except for one trivial rivalry. His first lady-love, Suraiya also happened to be the one I had a crush on. There were days when I used to hang around “Krishna Mahal” on Bombay’s Marine Drive just to get a glimpse of her. But, while Dev’s love affair was cut short by the lady’s grandmother, I was denied of my innocent pleasure by an obtrusive ‘lala’ (watchman) who was planted right in front of her ground-floor apartment to ward off intruding ‘star-gazers’.” Unquote.

Very true, but it is not fair to comment behind anybody. After all we just can’t forget the lovely, melodious old movies with evergreen songs he gave us. May his soul find pace in heaven.
He must have missed mentioning two more women artists with him in his early days- Usha Kiran and Suraiyaa. they gave us many good movies and lovely songs. virendra
