I think Idea behind selecting vijay for 3 idiots is The concept of 3 idiot matches well with friends movie. Except there is no hardcore college subject as 3idiots, Friends movies more about friends.More over Friends was one of the biggest Hit for Vijay. Vijay should always make family Subjects as it suits hi better than mass Subjects

put anyone in that role. You will start liking him as movie progresses. Be it any movie for that matter. 3 idiots is good one to drive the heros. With vijay's popularity (negative or positive) he can and will do better. wait and see. besides, we need to match heights of srikanth and jeeva. surya will be a midget ;) vijay is better on that front. Before you bother replyinh, im not fan of anybody here.

surya is midget and what abt aamir? he is micro midget. Seeing him in chair in 3 idiots, where the Chair was taller!.
nobody i repeat nobody could play the role of rancho as superb as vijay can,he made me cry in kaavalan with his fantastic acting,vijay is the right choice of shankar,im happy that an expressionless actor like surya is finally out of this historical movie,selecting surya was like selecting koundamani to act as lead,anyways im more than happy that our thalapathy is finally in this movie,cant wait now................

well said...am not either Vijay or Surya fan....but this role will set for Vijay than Surya....... Surya is just over-hyped my media......Vijay can do 100 times better than Surya,if he stick to his recent change in Kavalan.....vijay himself crashed his image by acting bad masala movies..hope now he changed after Kavalan's mega success.....

wait wait wait. you said Fantastic acting by Vijay in Kaavalan. And then Expressionless Suriya. HAHAHAHAHA JOKE OF THE YEAR!!! Vijay reprising the role of Rancho (owned by Aamir Khan) is itself a comedy. Suriya is the only tamil actor who is eligible for this role. No one else is. FYI, Aamir Khan himself appreciated Suriya in Ghajini, so you cant talk about expressionless suriya...

Vijay shakes his neck and head like a 3 month year old kid, ask him to open his mouth while delivering dialogues. Enna kodumainga idhu. I agree kavalan is a slighly different movie than all of his earlier movies. But he may go back to his antics which he so calls acting.

its a message oriented film. therefore someone whose audience likes to get messages should do it, ie: Suriya. Because generally Vijay fans only come to see his dance, not to get messages.
