rediff is right, it was SP muthuraman who cast rajni in a positive role. He was introduced as a villian and play anti-hero roles earlier

No. It's correct. "Bhuvana oru kelvi..." was directed by S.P.Muthuraman and that was the first film Rajini did a positive role on screen.
Intially Rajini started has Villany Role only. After few years an different role came to him N that film is "Bhuvana Oru Keylvikuri" nothing but Bhuvana is a Question mark? in English. He has done a character role along with Suryas father Sivakumar in this N he got an award.
I have the Privilege in watching this movie by sitting with him very close in the preview show in AVM E theatre.
Since my Uncle Mr.Maharishi is done the story for this film produced by NS Maniam and Directed by SP.Muthuraman Sir.
We whole heartedly wish him many many happy returns of the day! He is Indian cinema MANNAN. By character he is DHARMATHIN THALAIVAN. For the poor he is DHALAPATHI. If some one un wantedly behaves against him he is KAALI and POLLADHAVAN. In Tamil cinema he is RAJADHI RAJA.
Fast acting styles, Punch dialogs & Self directing charater made him super-star in Tamil cini-world. Really, he add new kind of acting flavour in the film-world. Sometime, it will be fun, to see his leg movement, lip movement or hand movement in the film. Long live Rajini!...
