stop passing judgements on people. every person has right to spend their honest, hard-earned money in the way he or she likes. you need not give them advice on what somebody should spend his money on. do you want our society to be like talibans? we, as people, fail to exercise our right to say on public money, but are more concerned about guiding our neighbor on how he or she should spend their personal money. there is much more money wasted on hundreds of pomp and rituals organized by the govt. for example, yesterday the president had a FREE trip on a T90 battle tank. what was it for? is she some expert on tanks? president and practically every cabinet minister and CM spends so much of public money on useless display of power through gun-totting policemen and a cavalcade of cars every day. this money is after all public's money and we are not bothered about asking our politicians to cut this expenditure down.

moreover, feeding of poor is no solution. the more you feed, the more complacent they would get and more children they would bear - because you are there to feed their children. So it is no wonder that inspite of economic progress, poverty in our country is not reducing at all. society is not getting labourers to till land or maids to work at home, and for other semi-skilled jobs even if you are willing to pay Rs. 10000 a month. The reason is senseless feeding of the poor which is creating an artifical shortage of labor everywhere. only the corrupt will feed them to

Your talking in terms of legal rights is O.K.What I spoke about the moral right to waste the monies which otherwise be very purposefully utilised for the welfare of the society of which poor is a major chunk.govt expenditure something which is in tune with the laid down policies & procedures. There is no comparison between Govt's spending & individual's spending. Are you going to tax govt income also.Just as any other individual it is also earning then. When we try to argue that should be backed by sound reasoning & logic.
Your contention that poor beget more children because somebody is feeding them is "WONDERFUL'-rather unheard so far.No one, however poor one may be will not like to produce children just because there are philanthropists to take care of the poor.Feeding poor is no solution to alleviate Indian poverty. But by doing do you will be helping at least a part of the underprivileged & deprived section of the society. And one more thing my dear Prem!!When I say "poor"literally it need not be taken as poor. The spirit behind is certainly the poor who cannot even afford even single square meal a day.Do you still think that lakhs of rupees spent by the Bacchan's family so ostentatiously is worth it just because they have a legal right?Could they not have really helped some poor in some or other way if not by feeding? It all depends upon the values one develops & the attitude he adopts.

I still dont agree with you. Legality is a constant whereas morality varies across humanity. For example, viewing say ex haul content in movies or over internet can be percieved immoral by some but moral by some others. I dont find anything immoral in spending money for my own leisure as long as my conscience is clear. I also dont think that donating money or feeding poor is any indicator of morality.

Take the example of 2G scam accused shahid balwa. It seems that his family fed an entire locality around a mosk in Mumbai for several months, every day as long as he was in jail. For me, his actions are immoral because he has looted public money. Ideally his and his family's property must have been attached by the courts and he should not even have been able to feed people through his corrupt money.

Even though I may sound sarcastic and over-generalising, the fact is that the people whose conscience preeks due to their misdeeds are the ones that normally engage in philanthropy. A person with clear conscience and who wants to help the society would instead create opportunities for the underprivileged instead of donating money and feeding people.

A meaningless & as sensesless a counter as their shown to have been written.Wearing pant & shirt are basic necessities.I feel pity for your failure to understand the spirit behind what I wrote! You try once & stand in the streets naked without any cover-why pant & shirt;even drawer & banian too.See the fun & enjoy. You would understand the "relativity" better.

ABHISHEK ADJUSTING THE GAJRA
by dayananda shetty on Dec 06, 2011 12:11 PM  | Hide replies

THIS IS NOT ADJUSTING THE GAJRA. THIS IS RITUAL FROM TULUNADU ( MANGALORE) THE ORIGIN OF AISHWARIA WHERE THE HUSBAND DECORATES HIS PREGNENT WIFE WITH PINGARA ( TENDER FLOWER OF ARECNUT) ON HER HAIR.
