5/5 if you are an Ajith fan 1/5 if you are a neutral movie-goer
As an Ajith fan, it doesnt get better than this. Ajith oozes style in every frame of the film and carries the film through from start to end. The music by Yuvan enhances the impact of Ajith's charismatic screen presence. Venkat Prabhu shows his class in stand-alone sequences such as the chess-board scene. Having watched it in a packed theater one is more than satisfied and proud to be a thala fan. Venkat Prabhu deserves praise for letting us see Ajith in a bold, new, fantastic avatar.
As a neutral movie goer, the greatness of a movie is in its ability to pull the viewer into its plot. Sadly this one keeps kicking the viewer out, repeatedly breaking the 4th wall. To enjoy the puch dialogues in this movie, you need to know that Ajith is called 'thala' outside this movie, Arjun is called 'Action-King' outside this movie, Ajith generally dons the role of a good guy etc. This consistent destruction of the 4th wall bars this movie from being one of international standards. The ill-advised placement of songs hinder the movie irritating the viewer. Several of the sub-plots are hair-brained, such as the one with the truck-container, such that only a die-hard Ajith fan, whose ego of being an Ajith fan just about defeats the logical reasoning portion of his brain, can enjoy it.
I bet that if you are watching movie first time u cannot predict until the frame in which thala laughs (in phone in climax). may be then u must hav made some random guesses. but u konw what!!!???anyone can say i predicted the climax in opening 10min after watching the climax actually... even i would say i predicted the climax in the first frame and u can't ask he how because my reply would be "i guessed the same way u guess"!!!:p
I don't understand why Ajith acts like a Villian. Drinking, Smoking, using 4 letter words for all the sentences in second half doesn't show Ajith as a Villian instead as a Comedian. Interval scene is the best example of his humour. Also the climax fight just continues for nearly 15 minutes and I am sure Venkat had no idea how to finish this movie...Still there are lot more to discuss. I don't want to waste my time.

what the hell!!!! who r u man to review Thalla film. if you don have time then why should you come and write this few idiotic feedback.if you have more Expectation level then go to the field and work on it.making commands is easier one instead of doing the same.
Guys not at all consider this trash review....Aprt frm rediff another 1 trash website is siffy. Except both all other websites like India glitz, Behindhood, chennaonline etc applauding the efforts made by mankatha crew...Even newspapers like Hindu, Times of India and deccan chronicle praising the efforts made by each one of them....This useless website always praise useless films like Manmadhan ambu, Adhvan n all other worthless movie....She's telling she'll be able to predict the climax at first 10 minutes itself....My question to her is " Mudhala padatha pathiya neenu?"

i would suggest u better study the basics of CHAOS theory... This movie depicts a sequence of well planned act not something of a chaos kind.
Just saw mankatha in Mumbai. It's good film.Ajith is smashing good in the negative rle.The reviews in SOME WEBSITES are very much biased against south indian films.Watched the film after reading the reviews. It's superb.
